And include relegation in the plans.
No, not at all if you enjoy it. Not a waste of time if it is fun.
As a resident of the mediocre to terrible state of Idaho I am interested to see how the USC and UCLA defections from the PAC 12 inpact the future of Boise State. BSU football is the closest thing to professional sports we have.
Fans have been hoping and wishing for a chance to join a power 5 conference for over a decade only to be passed over time and again.
Thereâs about to be no such thing as power 5, just power 2
Agreed
But BSU sits in a conference that is probably 7th or 8th.
Seems like college FB is basically just adding another tier, dividing the current FBS (P5 and G5) into two tiers. I assume Boise State would be in the 2nd tier, which would have their own playoff. I get that fans of BSU and other schools wonât like the change at first, but I bet the playoff system in the 2nd tier will be a big deal, keeping all CFB fans engaged.
We will always have the 2007 Fiesta Bowl ( greatest college football game ever)
I have it on DVD and watch it at keast once per year.
Hey us Idahoans donât have much.
I have rewatched it too.
You have a superb take down of the dirt-burglars/land-thieves/okie/ou and thatâs something.
That game was epically fun to watch
Most of your views are spot on but youâre STILL wrong on this one.
The Doyce view as to all this is the correct one. Itâs a slow motion train wreck nearly 40 years in the making.
Unless youâre looking at all this through burnt orange colored glasses.
Nice slam at UT, but I have no fucking idea why.
Iâm actually a fan of the school Jim but I donât think Iâll ever be able to convince you otherwise.
Youâre way too sensitive about things you think might remotely be a criticism of the Horns.
Sensitive??? Youâre crazy if you think my comment was sensitivity. All I said was I did not understand why you were taking a shot.
I will hasten to add, as I said yesterday, I spend no time thinking about football realignment. I do not care a whit about it. I have not read Doyceâs treatise on the subject.
A really good article that shows where the money is coming from in the case of U of H. And itâs pretty eye-popping.
In the most recent reporting period (FY 21), $41MM was paid by the university to subsidize the athletic program while student fees added another $8.5MM. Combined that represented 75% of the athletic programâs budget. It was the 3rd most subsidized program in the nation with only Arizona State ($62MM) and UConn ($43MM) receiving more from their schools.
Over the last 4 years the athletics program has received $35MM in student fees and $125MM from the university (that number might actually be higher at $135MM but the article contains a discrepancy so itâs hard to be certain).
Back in 2007 the department received just $2MM from the university.
Would they at least change the name of their conference then?
Big 8x2
Theyâre the Big 8 + 4 - 4 + 2 - 2 + 4
I propose the name be changed to the BMC.
âBig 'Merican Conferenceâ
This schedule reveal is 10/10, absolutely no notes.

If I could turn back time, I would sneak into the DKR press box and cut Joe Tessitoreâs headset cable before he could say âTexas is backâ.
