College Basketball '22-'23

A late Tech comeback falls short as Kansas wins 75-72 in Lubbock. Adams put a lot of Tech’s prospects for '22-'23 with transfer center Fardaws Aimac, who has yet to play a minute because of a pre-season practice injury. Without him they’re not big enough to play big and since McCullers transferred to Kansas, they’re not fast enough to play fast.

Losing to #3 Kansas in a close game is no shame, but without Fardaws, they will have a lot of trouble in the Big XII this year.

Amazing what wide open 3s and layups do for your shooting percentage. That was Runnin’ Horns-esque.

Yeah, the defense got carved up. Lots of buckets going to the rim.

What defense?

Mark and I were there and watched the best clinic on how not to play man to man defense I ever attended.

Shoot over 50%, score 103, lose by double digits. What?

Layups, open 3s, free throws-almost nothing else for the entire 40 minutes.

TCU gets a 1-pt road win over Baylor in a riveting game. Both teams look really, really tough. What a conference.

All the teams in the Big12 are currently ranked in the top 40 at KenPom.com. Not a bad team in the conference.

There are no Aggie jokes. Just true stories.

The real Aggie joke would be that they went back to the hotel because they forgot their helmets.

So…Beard’s gone?

Looks like it. Terry for the remainder of the season.

Yeah, it seems like there’s also a public spat going on between UT and his attorney.

Once he was given the ultimatum of resign or be fired, I would have hoped for resignation.

He was fired for cause so under this posture no need to cost the taxpayers of Texas his remaining salary.

Not sure I follow. I understand he was fired for cause, but by not resigning and subsequently entering the public fray through his attorney, he’s made things worse, IMO, for both him and for UT.

I wasn’t disputing anything you said. Just adding additional info to the thread. Yes, it would certainly be better for everyone not named Beard if he went away quietly and quite possibly better for him too.

Not sure what outcome I was expecting, but I’m kind of surprised that we’re already seeing it.

I thought we’d see this sooner.

The “A” in “Type A” stands for “Asshole.”

I was assuming they were going to let the legal stuff play out first.

I am discussing the due process issue with a former UT lawyer now. You cannot summarily fire a public employee who has a contract. He has a constitutional right to due process before he is fired. The employer must prove the conduct which constitutes good cause. Mere allegations are not enough.

Sovereign immunity will clobber any lawsuit Beard files.

Moral: if one is in a toxic relationship, leave it. Beard is an idiot. He had his dream job and was getting $5million a year to do it. He had a Final Four contender team and two five star recruits signed. Fucking idiot. She broke your glasses? Get in your car and leave.
