Rough bottom of the 8th for Zona
Yikes. That’s an understatement
They screwed up just about every way you can screw up in that inning.
That was stomping their dick, then lighting the remains on fire.
I posted that after the bloop 2-run single made it 4-3…then things really went to shit
Arizona eliminated.
I literally switched it on for the first time when the reliever came in and they were talking about how he hadn’t given up a run since March or whatever. Either I’m the “cooler” for Arizona or Louisville needs to hire me to tune in.
I’d rather lose 20-0 than lose like that. Brutal.
Don’t get me started on how incredibly pathetic that B8 was for my alma mater. I kept thinking the BatCats were walking a tightrope for too long and squandered some great opportunities and I was right.
Arizona shit the bed in some insane ways. Wow.
Can’t be disappointed in a Big 12 Tournament title, a Regional and Super Regional win, but this was just an atrocious way to bow out.
Alas. Time to focus on the Astros fully.
What an ugly way to go out in the CWS - back to back late inning collapses, with yesterday’s being particularly brutal in its ineptitude. As Chip Hale (Arizona’s head coach) aptly put it, they just didn’t play fundamentally sound baseball.
Arky pitcher (Gage Wood) hasn’t given up a hit thru 8. Very dominant.
Not surprised. He’s a possible late first round draft pick and has been lights out all season.
18 Ks and 1 out to go
BA just speculated on the Astros taking him in their latest mock draft. Riding fastball, good curve, would certainly fit the bill.
pitch 115 was 97mph
I haven’t seen a pitcher throw as many swing and miss fastballs in one outing in a long time. A truly special fastball.
Completed the no no. 3rd pitcher in CWS history.
Couldn’t remember if it was BA or Law who him going to the Astros.
ETA - just looked it up, Law has him going to the Braves with the next pick.
Watched the first few innings before I dozed off and I’m not surprised he completed the no-no. He was absolutely dominant from the get-go.
Good grief, that Chase Shores kid for LSU is 6’8” and 250 lbs, and he throws a 100+ mph FB and a 91 mph slider that spins at 3000 rpm and breaks hard. He just made some good Arkansas hitters look helpless.
