I’m not watching any of these games but I don’t see what’s wrong with fans being fans. No one’s claiming any objectivity around here that I know of.
This.
TCU beats McNeese 12-4. McNeese actually led after six innings 2-1, but Frog’s bats went off in the seventh and eighth inning. TCU will play Dallas Baptist tomorrow.
So the Big XII was 3-1 in their first games. Oklahoma State will have to play better tomorrow against either GCU or Arizona.
Tomorrow’s schedule for Big XII teams:
The winners of these games are in the proverbial “catbird’s seat” and will have to wait to see which team emerges from the loser’s bracket. Then they will need to win one of two games to advance to the Super Regionals.
Texas vs Arizona State, 6:00 PM CDT
TCU vs Dallas Baptist, 6:00 PM CDT
Texas Tech vs North Carolina, 8:00 PM CDT
Oklahoma State will play an elimination game against Grand Canyon University at 11:00 AM CDT
Nothing Tex did yesterday was objectionable, and I apologize to him and to all of you. What I experience at times is leftover pissedoffness (if that is a word) at the frequent bullshit I took as a Longhorn living in Lubbock for three years. Tex is not doing that to me, and I should not take my leftover, long-ago anger out on him.
Mea culpa, Tex. Your updates on the tournament are valuable. Keep being a fan, and so will I. Good comments, chuck, and you are correct, of course.
Funny thing, last night I thought man, Jim sure hated living in Lubbock, and he’s not the first.
Tex, I appreciate your updates too.
But “it was more like a 9-0 game than 11-0” will always be funny to me.
I did not hate living in Lubbock at all. I had a good time there and made good friends in law school. What I hated was the abuse I took because I was/am a Longhorn.
Yeah, even when you drop the fandoms it’s a preposterous thing to say.
Not one shred of offense was taken and there’s nothing to forgive. You keep hookin’ ‘em, I’ll keep wreckin’ 'em and we can focus on our sacred shared animosity towards A&M.
The Oklahoma State vs Grand Canyon game has been pushed to 3:00 CDT.
The Cowboys carry my hopes and dreams of a 50% Big XII CWS, so “shoot 'em up!” or “round 'em up!” or whatever it is that Cowboys do.
Arizona rallied from down 4-0 in the second to beat Grand Canyon 12-6. Chase Silseth, the BatCats’ Friday night starter and probable Day 2 MLB Draft pick, was lasted two innings and wasn’t helped by a porous infield defense and a slew of bloop hits. Only threw 67 pitches, so could be available Monday if necessary.
On a note that may or may not delight Texifornia, Tanner O’Tremba, a transfer from Tex’s alma mater, Lubbock Community College, hit the go ahead 2 run homer in the sixth to give Arizona the lead for good.
BatCats face UCSB tonight, who, as mentioned upstream, walloped okie state earlier in the day.
I love (or have, now that Beard is at UT) yalls baseball and basketball programs, your football team can and will forever kiss my ass. I’ve got Tech and Aggie relatives who are cool (my Aggie aunt used to go heavy with the Tsip and Cougar High bs, though), outside of the 2 UT games I went to up there I spend as little time in Lubbock as I can so I’ve rarely run into the fans Jim had to deal with, thankfully.
Tanner O’Tremba
That’s a hell of a name.
I remember once when I was attending Tech I came home to Houston for the holidays. I was with a group of people from different schools and we all piled into someone’s car and headed out. The driver, a peripheral acquaintance festooned with Longhorn gear, found out I went to Tech and started playing the UT Marching Band’s rendition of “The Eyes of Texas” on a loop at ear splitting levels. When asked by someone else to turn it down he turned it up even more. All of us in the back seat had our hands over our ears when the speakers finally blew.
So I kind of know how Jim feels.
There are two types of transfers at Texas Tech: those that transfer out are good players that can’t crack the starting lineup and those that transfer in are good players looking for an upgrade in program.
It was good to see my alma mater come back the way they did, but man, what a shaky start for the BatCats. Los Gauchos are no pushover today, bud.
South Alabama currently up 16-1 on Florida in an elimination game. Winner of that regional gets the winner of the Texas regional.
It really feels more like a 14-2.
