Well, OâTremba certainly transferred to an elite program, which explains why he doesnât start. He only played last night because the BatCatsâ all conference left fielder Mac Bingham is injured.
You ainât wrong. UCSB is consistently one of the best programs on the West Coast. Andrew Checketts arguably does more with less than any other Division I coach.
The Big West is a good baseball conference. Cal State Fullerton has fallen on hard times, but were recently a national power. UCSB has a great program as does Long Beach State.
Yep, I remember when they beat Texas in â04 sadly.
Plus, they had some solid teams under the late great Augie.
Vanderhook is retiring, so it will be interesting who steps in to that program at CSUF.
WHAT!!!
Did you even watch that game?
It was more like 17-0
That one felt exactly like 21-0.
Itâs like expected win-loss based on run differential, sometimes itâs right on the money.
And donât forget Pepperdine (Mike Scottâs alma mater). Along with Fullerton and Long Beach State, the three were as good as anyone in college baseball during the 80âs, 90âs, and early 2000âs.
UCLA eliminates the Black Knights of West Point 13-6. Army had some hitting, but nowhere near enough pitching to hold back the Bruins.
UCLA will play the loser of the Texas Tech vs North Carolina game.
Oklahoma State keeps hope alive with a 5-3 victory over Grand Canyon U. The 'Lopes acquitted themselves well in their first ever NCAA birth, but the Cowboys had just enough to win today.
Oklahoma State plays the loser of the Arizona vs UCSB game.
Iâd love for the UT game to start someday soon.
I mean, I donât mind watching UT/USC for the 436th time, butâŚ
I refuse! I have the 4th quarter memorized.
First pitch 8:10 pm Craig Wayâs FB page says.
This is the 2nd time my Mom, 74 yrs, has watched the game.
She cannot understand how VY didnât make it in the NFL. I just said âJeff Fisherâ
Jeff Fisher and Youngâs huge immaturity.
Great documentary you can get on YouTube. NFL Films:
A Football Life: 2006 Rose Bowl.
It is great on the game and also details why Young and Leinart were NFL busts.
Absolutely between the ears, but I didnât want to get into that. Mack was his father-figure and he never got that in the NFL.
Itâs still, all these years later, amazing watching him play. Easily one of the best 5 or so CFB players Iâve ever seen.
A couple of interesting things in the doc:
Young expected to be drafted #1 by Houston and said playing for Houston was the entire reason he left UT early. He said he would have stayed at UT had he known Houston was not going to take him.
Jeff Fisher and Norm Chow (maybe the offensive coordinator) were both USC and both wanted Leinart. Bud Adams forced them to take VY, in part to stick it to Houston by taking Houstonâs local hero for himself. Fisher and Chow did not want VY from the getgo, and Young sabotaged his career by his immaturity and poor work habits.
Arenât the Dirtbags (still the best name in college baseball) more like CSF right now as opposed to UCSB? Once great (the Dave Snow years) but now mostly irrelevant.
Chow was the OC, or GM?
