It’s a yankee heirloom. Trump originally presented the golden butt plug to Steinbrenner to express his gratitude for Steinbrenner’s mentorship during Trump’s purchase of the USFL New Jersey Generals franchise, one of his many wildly successful investments.
The rumor in the Bronx is that the Golden Buttplug is really just cheap pot metal with gold plating. Apparently, once the gold plating wore off Steinbrenner was exposed to toxic trace metals which contributed to his demise. I think the Yankees keep it in a glass case somewhere.
The difference between Cole and Beltran is that Beltran held out for so damn long and cost the Astros a chance to sign other competitive CFers. It was very frustrating. Still didn’t boo him.
I don’t boo players and I also don’t blame them for taking the most money possible. They have to look out for themselves and their families… for more than just this generation. Nobody is going to convince me otherwise. Unless somehow you’ve been in this position before and can somehow describe how doing something for a ton less money in one place instead of doing it for way more in another makes sense.
I hate the attitude that these players should be as big of homer’s for our home team as we are. Yes, the Astros made him better. But he also made the Astros better. That’s a square deal. Move on. The Astros will have another good pitcher on opening day. It’ll all be ok.
People in here take it too personally. IMHO if you want to be mad about something, be mad about the way the salaries are completely out of control in MLB. The Yankmees disregarding the luxury tax… whatever… but the Cole “I hope he doesn’t get injured but…” talk is BS.
I’m happy for what Cole did for the home team and wish they’d been able to be competitive $$ wise but that’s not smart for the Astros. Good job Luhnow.
If I can be at his first game at mmp I’ll be one of the few that will clap for him but then after that will just want The Astros to win the game.
But I am a fucking professional at what I do. So I’m not clueless.
After the forum change and the toxic attitude in here I think I’ll “exit stage left” I’m sure I won’t be missed because I rarely contribute anything. But good luck and go Astros!
Nope, but he is a professional (in what he does!) whose tender sensibilities were offended by our “fuck you” attitude toward Cole. He is reading this right now.
Wow, NYY Dress Code Cole looks like a completely different person. Fitting because he is a different guy than who I thought he was. I like ours much better.
The article stated that the club reportedly admitted they had a camera fixated on the catcher.
Here’s the quote in more context…
Fiers alleges the Astros had a camera fixated on the opposing catcher’s signs – something the club reportedly has since admitted – which were relayed in real time to a monitor in the tunnel between the clubhouse and dugout. Someone then banged a garbage can to relay the signs to the hitter.
Has this been reported? That the club admitted the camera and realtime relay to a monitor to be banged on a garbage can, or is this poorly worded reporting by the article writer?
This article goes further into what the club did admit to…
According to SNY’s Andy Martino, some of the interviewees said they had access to a live feed from a center field camera that aided in decoding signs in 2017, but they denied that any special cameras were installed for the sole purpose of sign stealing.
They have to have evidence linking the watching live feed to telling the hitter based on the live feed. Evidence, not supposition.
Tell me the difference between watching a live feed and looking at the catcher from second base IF the nerd watching the live feed does nothing but inform the clubhouse after the game what he saw. I also do not think studying the video of yesterday’s game is illegal.
Caveat: I have no idea what rules MLB has in place because of sign-stealing paranoia. Maybe even looking at a live feed is taboo even if the nerd does not tell the dugout in real time.
