I don’t want to step on HH’s old man yelling at cloud corner, but the schedule was a lot better when that sweet couple was doing the whole thing by hand than now with the computers taking over.

That’s two weeks in a row where there is an off day on a weekend when school is still in session. Perhaps this is MLB’s way of saying “these kids are taking baseball way too seriously”.
There’s always been this idea that we somehow need all these extra off days in the first month of the season, when the players are as fresh as they’ll ever be. They’ll be wishing they still had a few of them available in August…
According to Julia Morales, the weird gap day is there as a buffer in case the teams’ home opener gets disrupted by weather.
That makes all the sense in the world. I still hate it though. I am driving from DC to Vermont this evening and was really looking forward to listening to the game on the radio. Boooooo.
One of life’s simplest and greatest pleasures in my book is drive the car on a trip and listen to a ball game.

I get building an off day or two in, but why not a Thursday or a Monday. Weekends are money nights. Makes no sense.
