Looking around the league today I’m wondering if they might have let the 2019 baseball back out of the bag.
They obviously didn’t send any to Houston. Saw earlier that this is the first time in Astros history they’ve had zero XBH in their first 2 games

Baseball bats come in all sorts of profiles. The trend over the last 30 years has been really thin handles and thick barrels. Putting more mass towards the handle fits today’s hitters are on top of the plate, and are so strong they can generate bat speed and power with anything.
Obviously he wrapped his bat with bubble gum tape
The hitting zone around the center of percussion of the bat is almost the same, but they’ve taken a little mass from the end. Perhaps this affects swing speed slightly.

I’m headed out to Constellation Field today to see LMJ pitch. Went last night too, but I figured LMJ pitching is like seeing Bigfoot so I’m headed out there today.
Planning on seeing more than a few games there this year; it’s a great stadium, 20 minutes from the house and the seats are cheap. Third row behind home plate for $30. Noice.

LMJ strikes out the side in the first. I’m no pitching expert but he looked smooth, velocity mid 80s to low 90s, hit 94 once.
