One thing I heard last night, MLB brass doesnā€™t think any RSNs will be around in ~3 years.

I sure hope we donā€™t end up with some streaming only option.

I understand where youā€™re coming from, but if Apple threw all their money at an MLS style package to get every single game, it would be a total game changer for the league.

Iā€™m not sure how it shakes out and I certainly want what is best for the sportā€¦but as someone that lives in an area marked as ā€œhome marketā€ for that Astros but not carried by the local cable provider, Iā€™d welcome the opportunity to specifically purchase Astros/MLB content. Having to switch from Fubo to watch regular season games to Hulu to get the playoff games on TBS was not ideal.

And so it begins. I suspect most RSNs are shaky (excepting the Yankee and Dodger ones).

Itā€™s so insane itā€™s just gotten comical. I also live in the Astrosā€™ home area, but we havenā€™t had a local affiliate for at least 15 years. Every March I go through this bullshit about figuring out how Iā€™m going to watch the Astros this season.

The past few years Iā€™ve paid for MLBEI, then used a VPN to move my house out of the Astrosā€™ market. But lately they started catching onto that, and making it a pain in the ass to even be quasi-legal by paying them and using a workaround. So now I wonā€™t even buy MLBEI at all.

All I want to do is pay MLB to watch the Astros, and they refuse to allow it.

Exactly my situation

Not sure what my solution is for 2023

So itā€™s ā€œwokeā€ to pay back your borrowings?

Itā€™s too much work to do this for all of baseball, but I think Iā€™ve managed to compile a comprehensive list of Astros draftees and international signings who are on other teams, but still in affiliated baseballā€“you can expand the lists below.

Reading through the lists, the Astrosā€™ international free agent signings (on other teams) are a less impressive group than their domestic draftees. The headliner on the IFA side of things is probably Teoscar Hernandez, but the dropoff is pretty steep after that.

The international signings still on the Astros, though? Itā€™s a damn fine list.

Great list(s). Fernando Abad, a 37 year old NRI with the Rockies this year after being taken by the Astros as a 16 year old in 2002. Wow.

I was coming to say the same thing. What an impressive feat - pays to be left handed.

Six of the draftees on other teams were drafted after the 10th round. That is very impressive.

I read somewhere that vagueness is the key to something

I read that, too, but Iā€™ll put it off until tomorrow to verify it.
