Baseball games involving the Astros

nevermind.

Cloud of dust? Power sweep?

Todayā€™s game is a must. Same as the series with the Twins, steal one at home and take care of business on the road.

This makes my hair hurt.

Brantley time out ended, back in lineup today. Maldy behind plate

Alvarez DH
Brantley LF
Chas CF

So from where I sitā€¦sober:

I am very disappointed in the Astros, both in several of the ā€œbig boysā€ you count on for producing runs, and especially with Framber. He had a real opportunity to be the man and pick his team up in the most important game of the season to date, and he completely shit himself starting with the first pitch he threw.

The series is not over, but they now have to win 4 out of 5, which is a tall order, even for a team thatā€™s played so well on the road. Doable, but difficult. They have Javier and Urquidy going, both of whom have delivered big games in big moments in the past, so thatā€™s encouraging. I will watch, cheer, drink and bitch in the GZ becauseā€¦well, thatā€™s how it works.

As for the prospect of losing to the Rangers: The Astros are my team, the only team that matters to me, and frankly to anybody else these days. Thatā€™s a nice feeling. Iā€™m bothered no more by the idea of losing to the Rangers than I am losing to the Yankees, Red Sox, Twins, or anyone else, as I couldnā€™t give a flying fuck, a ratā€™s ass, or as my grandmother would say, a tinkerā€™s damn about any team other than the Astros. In the immortal words of Rick Blaine, when asked by Urgarte if he despised him ā€œif I gave you any thought I probably wouldā€. But I donā€™t.

Go Astros

Great post. You are a bigger man than I, Gunga Hawk. I hate the Yankees most, but the Rangers are a clear #2.

I will NEVER count this team out. We have seen them look dead and burried many times in the postseason, only to get up, dust themselves off and come out fighting. Last year after getting embarrassed in game 3 of the World Series, in 21 getting destroyed in game 3 vs the Red Sox, 20 down 3-0 vs the Rays, 19 losing games 1 and 2 at home vs the Nationals, 17 losing 3 straight in New York. They didnā€™t win all those series but each time they came back and showed why they are champions. Are they in a tight spot? Yes. Is it going to be hard? Yes. Will everyone count them out? Yes, outside of Astro fans, and probably even many Astro fans. I will not. I cannot. Iā€™ve seen it too many times. Iā€™ll believe in this team until out 27 of loss 4.

If youā€™re looking for any inspiration for the next three games, take a quick peek at the how the Astros did home/road against the Rangersā€¦

Holy fuck. The contrast of those numbersā€¦ is brain breaking.

I woke up thinking about it so I looked it up and yeah. Wow.

So.

6-1 in Arlington.

The 1 was of course the only game I attended.

Canā€™t fuckinā€™ take you anywhere.

Thatā€™s just sound advice, in general.

Here are some more disturbing numbers from this Postseason:

Yordan Alvarez is 9 for 23 with 6 home runs and 2 doubles. Heā€™s driven in 8 runs, 6 of them driving himself in.
