Baseball games involving the Astros

The ball clearly rides up and in at a diagonal path. The book on Garcia is to pound him in, but you have to get it there. Both of Garcia’s home runs in Arlington came on pitches that were on the inner third, but not far enough inside. Abreu was struggling with his command (walked the leadoff man) and the ball tailed too far inside, clipping Garcia. He also is clearly seen on the mound saying “I didn’t mean to hit you,” and reiterated that in his post game interviews.

Abreu specifically said that he didn’t. He gave a really good and thoughtful post game interview that I’m sure is easy to find and worth a watch if you want to hear what he said and in my opinion you should want to.

Altuve said as much in his MLB tonight interview after the game. Said something to the effect of …I was happy for him…it was a big hit for him…

The interview is here. Probably Cabreraed. Don’t care. Could probably clean up the link. Don’t care.

I don’t care any more-or-oh.

You know I don’t care no more.

No more.

No more.

Thanks for posting that, Charles. He is a classy guy. Fuck Manfred. Fuck MLB.

I do not comprehend how anyone who posts here could say the HBP was intentional. This is a highly intelligent, baseball-savvy site.

The other side of it is if you’re the Rangers and you think it was intentional, shouldn’t you just laugh at your opponent being stupid as fuck in that situation? They’re down 2, man on, 3 outs from losing, and you think they just handed you a baserunner? And you throw a tantrum instead of taking your base with a smile?

I hope the Astros win this game 9-0 with Garcia striking out all 3 times he comes to the plate.

I can’t think of anything that would actually help publicize this absolute lynching of the Astros and Abreu by MLB and turn opinion so they need to just shut everyone up on the field.

The umpires and league officers should never be the story or be a factor in why a team wins or loses.

Oh you sweet summer child.

Nothing is going to turn opinion.

They could’ve suspended the entire roster and sent the Rangers a gift basket and the public would cheer.

There simply isn’t a world where you purposefully put a runner into scoring position with ZERO outs, tied in a 2-2 ALCS in the 8th inning down only 2 runs to a team THAT WAS THE FIRST EVER TO HAVE MORE BLOWN SAVES THAN SAVES. Full stop.

Occam’s razor: Abreu was trying to brush him back and get him uncomfortable, THAT’S IT. The ball got away from him, end of story. To think Maldy and Abreu hatched this plan to “light a fire under the team” is one of the most preposterous and ridiculous ideas I’ve ever seen put forth.

The way MLB is acting there is only one thing left to do, win this motherfucker AT HOME tonight and THEN win the entire fucking World Series AT HOME and at the trophy presentation boo Manfred so loudly that not a single word from that cocksucker’s mouth can be heard except with closed captioning.

Thanks Coach, I hope it all comes to fruition. In a just world it does.

This is not a just world.

I have F1 to occupy my time today until the big game. Praying we can get out of there (always a shit show) in time to find a bar and watch the game.

I still am incredulous smart posters here say Abreu hit Garcia on purpose. Every good baseball coach at every level tells a relief pitcher and the entire team “Hold them right here” when his team is behind, especially in a close game. The importance of Game 5 exacerbated the need to keep the Rangers from increasing the lead and to keep hitters in the dugout, not on base. Thinking/saying “intentional” as payback for the earlier homer makes no baseball sense at all.

I have not heard any baseball people saying it was intentional

Just people who obviously have no clue, like fans and umpires and the league office.

…and no matter the outcome that day, they had another whole game left to throw at him if that’s what they wanted.

He may have been working the media, but Bochy implied he thought it was intentional.

“He hit a 3 run home and gets smoked the next time up.”

"We play the game the right way. "

To be generous it was right after the game.

But mostly fuck him for those comments.

I guess Abreu is waiting till just before game time to appeal?
