Astros at their daddy, 7/27/22

Pitiful

Nothing like getting swept by the worst team in baseball to put things in perspective. Or something.

Let’s never speak of this again.

Josh Bell or whoever they’re after won’t be enough to fix this.

I mean, at least nobody died.

Except Lee’s chances of seeing the postseason roster.

Pathetic. 0-3 in their last three games. To the worst team in the league. Now they’re a whole fucking game below 30 games above .500.

Lee was a reach pick last year. BBA had him low in the second or high third round

I saw on twitter (but can’t find it now) somebody posting that the Astros were 64-32 in 2017 before getting swept by the A’s, which is the same record coming into this series. I don’t know if it’s true, but it feels like it.

Here it is:

Fake News

We were 86-55 when we got swept at Oakland in early September that year*

The raging loud Oakland crowd must have got to them.

But they did start 2017 64-32. Therefore, I wouldn’t rate the statement as incorrect, just misleading.

Mea culpa iterum.
I accept what ever sanction Spack may impose without complaint.

Lucky we’re not in Japan a few centuries ago, eh?

Highly nuanced, but I guess I’ll take it.

*86-53, then got a 4-game sweep dropped on 'em, outscored 41-15

I do remember the utter shellacking.

I’m trying to forget this shellacking.

We all make mistakes. As I pointed out, it happened with someone else last week, and I’ve been guilty of it in the past.

I once read a description of Northwest Native American religions, and how their religious practice wasn’t a matter of celebratory worship but of propitiatory avoidance. If they did something annoying, the salmon harvest would fail.

I read that and understood it immediately. It’s just like the baseball gods.
