Aches Pains & Muscle Strains 2023

All 4 of his ABs ended in “hard hit balls” over 95mph. Just right at fielders

I read that he is DHing today. It will be interesting to see what kind of strength he can maintain in day 2.

If he has more hard contact then I will be more hopeful for the rest of the season, but 17-20 games like yesterday would make me happy (quality of contact, not results)

Back issue with Graveman. Will know more tomorrow.

Dammit

Better than his arm.

Back can be bad. May his healing be quick. Nice to have former Astros produce.

Altuve out of the lineup today. Does anyone have any idea how badly injured he is?

I think Dusty called it a bruise

For Pete’s sake, I hope they keep him comfortable.

I’m sure he’d play if it was an important game

According to this article, he hit the same spot a couple times last week and is going to wear a shin guard…

Believe we were all holding our breath.

Just saw this on Xitter.

Dusty Baker said that Ryne Stanek’s ankle is not broken, but is likely a high ankle sprain.

I guess that’s good news? Any word on how long he’ll be out? It looked pretty bad yesterday, but may not be as much damage as it appeared.

That’s all I saw. I know high ankle sprains can be problematic to heal. You basically have to stay off of it for an extended period before trying it out again, then rehabbing.

Weeks, although it obviously depends on severity. Grade 1, he might be back by October. Grade 2 or 3, I imagine he’s done for this season.

Sometimes, most of the time not but sometimes, a really bad sprain can take longer to heal than a clean break. I’m not a professional athlete with great trainers to help me but between games 5 and 6 of the 17 WS I sprained my ankle really bad. It took me 3-4 weeks before I could walk without a serious limp and close to 8 weeks before I was able to push off a mound

Scherzer done for the season.

That was sadly obvious last night.

I thought about starting the aches, pains and muscle strains thread for 2024, but I am still hopeful that @Walt_Bond will come back and do that.

In the meantime, I have a question for you all. Have any of you ever dealt with a Moderate rotator cuff tear? If yes, what did you find helped and didn’t help and what was the (hopefully noninvasive nonsurgical) therapies that worked for you?

Not sure about that one. He has not been active in quite some time.

Actually, I have. I found that physical therapy helped, where they gave me set of isometric exercises. This let’s you work the muscles without having to move your arm much and risk further damage. It was basically something like this:

Rotator cuff exercises - Mayo Clinic

Another involved holding a small rubber ball against the wall and rolling it around. All really helped me personally.
