“He’s not ready and I told him, let us know when he’s ready because he’s champing at the bit, but at the same time we can’t afford to lose him again. Sometimes you can’t do anything about father time, as much as you want to. With the schedule winding down, we have to do what’s right for him.”
Hmmm There is a Kendrick Lamar song by that name that has the line
“Oh, this the part where mental stability meets talent”
Maybe Dusty should add that to his play list.
What does playing Friday and Saturday in Sugar Land accomplish that doing the same for the Astros wouldn’t? Either pull the plug for good or see how his shoulder responds as a DH in Houston.
It certainly feels likely that Brantley’s playing days are over, though.
I get that, but from a health/playing perspective, either he can play without pain in his shoulder or he can’t. Whether that’s in Sugar Land or with the Astros.
Julks and Singleton are the baseline game exposure limits. Brantley deserves that minimum, and that doesn’t account for his prior record. We need him, preferably healthy as he is able.
He hit the ball hard, but right at people. He started all AB’s in serious pitcher’s counts but didn’t seem anxious. Only had one can of corn in LF, iirc.
