All I’ve seen is elbow contusion. Not sure if that diagnosis was made before or after any imaging to assess for fractures. If imaging was in fact done and did not show anything beyond swelling and soft tissue damage, then maybe a relatively brief IL stint will be all it takes. Given his heavy usage this year, could turn out to be a good thing.
Hope Phil is OK. I also hope Parker is still effective.

Initial X-rays were negative but they will follow up with more X-rays and an MRI to be sure. All of this per Rome.

Phil Maton underwent another X-ray and an MRI yesterday and there is no structural damage in his right elbow. He hopes to start throwing in a few days and is targeting coming off the IL at the end of the 15 days.

Sounds reasonably positive. Kid needed rest anyhow. Shitty way to get it but hopefully elbow is fine and he gets the rest he needs to comeback strong in September!

Frankly, I didn’t think we’d even get to this point, so I’m cautiously excited.

I don’t think he had actually headed out. He was supposedly about ready and then something came up. Or at least that’s my recollection.
Believe he played several AAA games, his shoulder flared up and he was shut down.

Exactly, I’ll believe Michael Brantley will play again, the day after I actually see him play again.
The way I’m thinking about this, he needs to get back on the field now if there’s any chance of him rejoining the roster by the postseason. Maybe he’s better, maybe he’s the same, but either way, he can’t help later unless he starts getting reps now. So throw him out there on a rehab assignment and see how he holds up. Fingers crossed it works out. I miss him.

Was looking Brantley up on Baseball Reference, last game June 25, 2022. Also I had no idea he won a Silver Slugger one year (2014), I will be storing that away for an immaculate grid.
