Aches Pains & Muscle Strains 2023

My hope(prayer) is that this is one of those “use the IL around the all star break to miss fewer games” stints. I am not optimistic.

Could this have also helped (injury) the team work around the problem of getting Blanco back up with the big club?

Per Rome, Altuve says the MRI results were actually better than expected. So I’d say it’s very possible that’s what happened.

Trying out a Threads link to see if these work any better than twitter links:

Blanco is replacing Mushinski … Hensley is replacing Altuve. I am surprised they would be allowed to use the injury excuse to bring a pitcher back for an injured position player. It does seem, though, that that is what happened. Maybe that explains why Mushinski was optioned a day earlier than the two recalls?

I’m not sure if it specifically states that pitcher must eplace an injured pitcher or that a hitter must replace an injured hitter. My guess is that as long as a player gets added to the IL and the team doesn’t end up over the pitcher allotment(ie two moves made at the same time), it waives the 10 or 15 day minimum.

Has anybody heard anything else about Yordan’s illness? Hopefully it’s not ebola or something.

Before Sunday’s game, Dana Brown called it a head cold:

Caution is the better part of valor?

What a freaking baby.

Hey, they didn’t say that was his only problem. Maybe he also has ebola.

Given how coy the Astros are about ‘discomfort,’ he’s probably sick as a dog with the flu…

Discomfort is an MLB term, but you likely are correct.

OK, maybe not too sick…

Internet trainers/doctors are annoying

Who annoys you?

I don’t think that’s a question anyone should ask this crowd.

I am curious about who he meant.

There is a chance both Altuve and Alvarez are back for the series finale tomorrow.

From the Chronicle’s Michael Shapiro on Twitter:

Two health notes on the Astros

  • Jose Altuve says he’s ready to return to the field, hopes to play Wednesday

  • Dusty Baker hopes Yordan Alvarez will return tomorrow. Seems like Alvarez will DH

Alvarez participated in batting practice today and also worked in the outfield
