At least it’s not a second TJS for McCullers. Typical recovery time for flexor tendon repair is 6-9 months, so it’s possible he’ll be available for the vast majority of next season.
Does the bone spur potentially add even more time to that?
LMJ is under contract through 2026. I’m going to put the O/U of remaining starts in an Astros uniform at 30.
Here’s an interesting read on oblique injuries to baseball players while we wait for the game to start:
Woof. Read through all this thread, forgot how many injuries the Astros have endured this season.
Amazing how well the guys have done up to now, all things considered.
Also amazing that Dusty remains as upbeat as he is.
Yordan is back to swinging the bat. Brantley is hitting on the field and cage as well as fielding in left field. Urquidy is throwing without pain. The addition of those 3 would be a major boost.
Valdez will not make his start against the Rangers according to Rome. He sprained his ankle against the Mets and it has been bothering him. Javier will start Monday and health wise, he is fine. No word yet on who making the start for Valdez.
From Chandler Rome:
Framber Valdez will not make his scheduled start on Sunday against the Rangers, manager Dusty Baker said on Saturday. Valdez injured his right ankle during his start against the Mets on June 20. It got progressively worse in his start against St. Louis last week, during which he allowed a season-high eight hits and four earned runs. The Astros are unsure who will start on Sunday in Valdez’a place
And not sure if it’s injury related but Peña is out of the lineup again today

When it rains it hails!!!
My disappointment has not plateaued.
If Brantley has 1 plate appearance this year I will be pleasantly surprised
Who and/or what “plateaued”?
Sorry, I’m not allowed to use twitter anymore.
Dusty says Brantley has “plateaued somewhat” and will not face Urquidy’s live BP tomorrow.
Apparently the word “plateaued” was presented by the reporter asking the question. Here’s the exchange:
“Has Brantley increased his workload or kind of plateaued a little bit?”
Dusty: “He’s plateaued somewhat. We want to increase it, but then we don’t want to have to go backwards either. I’d rather have it plateau for a while then increase it.”
Thanks
Isn’t a plateau usually higher than the surrounding context?
According to Oxford, the second definition is:
“ a state of little or no change following a period of activity or progress.”
