Astros plan to announce their update on LMC tomorrow… 5 days post-MRI. Timing is just about right for the typical MRI > Surgery Eval > Second opinion > announcement chain of events.
It’s become pretty clear that the rest/rehab approach isn’t working, and hasn’t for almost 2 years (he didn’t look “right” when he pitched last year). It’s probably time to just go in and fix the problem… hopefully it’s not another full UCL replacement.

Mentioned this to my wife and she said “does he even play baseball?”
“Expected to return during the 2024 season” is disturbingly lacking in detail. I’m guessing if they thought he’d be ready for the start of the season, or even by the All-Star break, they’d have said so.
I have to agree with your wife. I feel bad for McCullers but 5/$85mm is a lot of money to pay for a guy who never plays.
