That would be just about perfdct
Ok, you researched. I yield to you.
I did, largely because I have nothing else to do this morning (ladyfriend went shopping in Bee Cave, it’s too muddy to do anything outdoors except go cry over the hail destruction in my garden).
Crane definitely didn’t go after pitching, I just hope they fix it whenever SPs become available on the trade market.
Nothing positive/good ever happens after “Damn, my elbow hurts!”
I don’t know if it played a part, but I don’t want my players in the WBC. May not be a popular opinion, but that’s how I feel. And I felt that way before Altuve’s injury.
I also think the fact that the Astros have consistently played longer seasons than anyone lately might also play a potential role. Our pitcher’s arms are less rested than any organization.
Rome reported that Dusty bringing up the WBC as an influence went down CERY poorly in the clubhouse.
They should do coach pitch for the WBC.
Or just make it all Minor League guys (for the US), like the AFL?
According to Dana Brown, the Astros might get Urquidy back around the All-Star Break.
Astros GM Dana Brown to @SportsTalk790 about José Urquidy: “There’s a chance we could get him back some time around the All-Star break.”

In the same interview, Brown also said Jose Altuve might start a rehab assignment in a week or so:
Dana Brown on @SportsTalk790 when asked when Altuve could begin a rehab: “We’re hopeful it could be within a week or so, maybe, as long as he continues to progress.”

Any chance the All Star Break this year is in early June?
There’s a chance.
So it’s at least equally likely he won’t be back until after that.
Chas and Brantley are back this next series.
Let’s be happy about the things we have.
Will be interesting to see how Meyers/McCormick PT plays out.
They’ll both probably sit behind Dubòn when Altuve comes back. I wish I were kidding.
Jake really stepped up his offense since Chas went down.
One reason why things aren’t any worse.
Yes, he has, and I think the main reason for that is consistent at bats night after night…an no fear of sitting the next day because you went 0-4 the night before. The platoon needs to be done away with in my opinion and one of those players should get 85% of the playing time.
A “platoon” of those two makes no sense because they are essentially the same player. One should go in a trade for a pitcher (I hope), but which one? Jake came to life while Chas was hurt, and Chas was hitting before the injury.
Between the two, I take my chances with Chas. I think his bat and glove are right on par with Myers, but his arm is much better.
I think Jake has a better glove, Chas the better arm. Chas has a little more power and has historically gotten on base more. Both run fine, though Jake is probably a little more of a chance to take a bag. They are both strikeout machines. If forced to choose, I probably take Chas, as he’s more likely to run into one when you need three runs immediately. But there’s not a lot of difference.
I’ve grown to like Chas. He’s a decent hitter and I completely trust his glove in center after that amazing World Series catch. I’m with Jim also. Play one, trade the other for a pitcher.
