I’m waiting for an update but I am much more hopeful than I was 15 hrs ago.
I have never felt more personally attacked in my life.
I hope you bang your shin on the coffee table tonight, Das.
What if you rub a little dirt on it?
Never thought of others having that problem before. Always a pain the arse for the shins.
I definitely am in the “walk it off” generation.
Peña back in the lineup tonight
Michael Schwab
Ha. The only reason I know this is my wife tried to walk it off after spraining her ankle. Her orthopedist flatly said that she added 6 weeks of recovery by doing so. And, sure enough, it was 16 weeks until she felt normal again. We’re both cut from the same cloth as you and your pop. “Eh, it’ll be fine, suck it up…”.
That’s what tape and/or Ace bandages were for.
It looked like it was something very serious. Made me think of Dave Dravecky.
Made me think of Josh James or Blake Taylor.
Dravecky is about as serious as it gets. I can’t imagine seeing anything on a baseball field ever again that makes me feel that way.
Mike Cameron Carlos Beltran is another one that chills my spine.
Made me think of Dave Dravecky.
No, that’s a level by itself.
Dickie Thon level.
There’s no doubt that Dickie’s injury was brutal. But Dravecky’s was a whole different level. We joke about discomfort meaning amputation, but they LITERALLY HAD TO AMPUTATE HIS ARM.
John McSherry
Any other old timers remember when Julio Gotay and Hector Torres collided? 1968? Really fucked up Torres.
Not even in the same universe
but they LITERALLY HAD TO AMPUTATE HIS ARM.
Really? I remember reading his book. He made a comeback and everything I thought? Maybe it had to be done later. I also read it a long, long time ago so maybe I’m off.
Good book by the way.
Dravecky had cancer (a lump on his left arm) and went through treatment and recovered, made a comeback and two games in to his comeback he broke his arm throwing a pitch in a game. The cancer had returned and he had to get his arm amputated at the shoulder.
