Aches Pains & Muscle Strains 2022

Yeah…surprise, surprise

JV eligible to come off IL on Sept 13 but Click is quoted as saying his recovery will take longer than that.

Take your time and get it right. But it would suck if this costs him the Cy.

This calf injury news is absolutely not surprising to a Moises Alou fan like I was.

Don’t you put that evil on JV

Same injury. Alou’s was very slow to heal.

The exact quote from Click and something not behind a paywall…

JV threw off the mound for the first time today. Agility work and throwing bullpen next. Says calf is progressing as hoped if not better but expresses caution (as Click did) about being ready to come off IL next Wednesday when the 15 days are up.

No one noted it yet (I don’t think) but Pressly was eligible to come off the IL yesterday but didn’t because the neck was still bothering him. Which is a long time to be bothered by neck spasms.

Lots of sound bites involving JV after today’s bullpen session. Sounds like he might be ready to come off the IL this Friday.

That would set him up for 4 starts prior to the end of the regular season.

Yordan not in the lineup… again. Hand is sore… again

I don’t think missing a few games in September, when the division and best record in AL is all but clinched, is an issue.

But if sending him on the IL for the rest of September would help for the playoffs it needs to be done. There are 5 games in October to get his timing back.

I’m sure they know better than I if that would help.

What I don’t want to see is his power disappear ( again) or him needing games off in the playoffs.

Astros confirm JV will start Friday

I’m not sure of any reality, unless you are Moises Alou or maybe Uncle Mike, where 5 days is enough to get timing back, especially against amped-up, top-caliber playoff pitchers. Heck, we’ve even seen Yordan, specifically, take a fair amount of time to get that timing back.

Not to mention it would be those 5 days to “get timing back” then 5 days of no games

He was smashing the ball for a week before that homer.

If he needs time off, give it to him.

I think at this point just string it along day by day, try to keep him sharp and feeling good
