Probably wise.

I’m headed to Arlington in a few minutes to do my part.

This back and forth (ambos manos o solo uno? derecho o izquierdo?) is both amusing and tiresome…

Lots of Evasiveness and/or Confusion on Display

Alvarez required a trip to the injured list in mid-July with what the Astros described as “right hand inflammation.” Manager Dusty Baker recently said Alvarez’s left hand had become problematic, too. On Tuesday, Baker intimated both hands were bothering Alvarez.

“It’s just one of the hands,” Alvarez said on Wednesday. “I saw someone said it was both hands, but it’s just one.” Asked left or right, Alvarez replied “just one.” Asked whether an offseason procedure may be necessary to correct whatever hand is hampering him, Alvarez replied “I don’t think so.”

Baker declined to provide much of a concrete update on Alvarez prior to Wednesday’s game. The manager said “you know how he is, why you asking me?” “You trying to catch me in some stuff,” Baker continued. “You know how he is. Just write what he told you.”

Speaking of tiresome, and I hate to be that guy, but mano is feminine.

Which makes the corrupted usage of mano a mano even weirder.

Think hand to hand rather than man against man.

Although I don’t know if that phrase is used in the Spanish speaking world.

What is the masculine Spanish word for hand? Google translate only gives me manos de Hombre for man hands

I didn’t know Spanish-speaking culture was quite so enlightened given that whole “La Mano de Dios” thing.

“Mano” is simply feminine. There is no masculine equivalent. Like “casa” is feminine, whether a man or woman live in it. It just is. “Mano” is one of the few feminine words that end in “o”.

Ambas manos.

I stand corrected.

Yeah I know but what was chuck’s point?

How many times has that question been asked?

Now that made me chuckle.

Walt used the masculine article.

That had me scratching my head at first as well.

But I finally figured out he meant I should have said “ambas manos” instead of “ambos manos”.

I think.

This.

Mano as feminine is probably a tip of the cap to Limey’s bunk.

60-day IL-er Blake Taylor had that setback in his injury recovery back on Aug. 19 (triceps issue) but returned to the mound tonight for SL. He threw 22 pitches in lasting 2/3 of an inning. Walk, single, K, FB were his results before exiting the game.

Along with Josh James, that’s 2 more 40-man roster spots this month that would potentially need freeing up.
