Yeah, and last week they hoped it would happen last weekend.
“A Lance McCullers Jr. update: he’s scheduled to throw his first up-down tomorrow. He’ll throw 25 warmup pitches, sit in the bullpen to mimic an inning break, and then throw more. He’ll do that one more time and then they’ll start talking about facing hitters.”
“Astros reliever Kendall Graveman is in the middle of a throwing program with a remote chance that he could come back in September. Graveman said his Jan. 10 surgery was to repair a torn labrum and clean up his rotator cuff.”
Man, I would love for a great comeback story for Lance but at this point have no expectations of him ever again pitching in a MLB regular or post season game.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Astros manager Joe Espada said Jake Bloss had an MRI on his shoulder that showed “small inflammation.” There is no structural damage and he won’t throw for a few days.

Well, goddamnit.
This is so 2024 Astros.
Fuck you, injury bug.
As shown during the broadcast today:
The 2024 Astros have already used 28 pitchers this year. The team record is 31.
I think I’m going to start to assume that if anyone hits the IL that they’ll be out for 12+ months and be pleasantly surprised if they return this season. This includes Tucker and his likely shattered shin.
Amputation
To quote one doctor, “It’s worse than that, he’s dead, Jim.”
Yeah, seeing that in the telecast blew my mind.
Didn’t they say Gray Kessinger was even on that list?
Cut it out, Coach/Jim!
Grae. And he is alive and well playing in Sugar Land.
Yea, that’s right, I forgot he spelled it that way.
Elbow surgery (again) for Oliver Ortega; he’ll miss all of 2024:
Luis Garcia is pitching today in the Florida Complex League, starting his rehab assignment.
