A Republic, If You Can Keep It

In October the President and Defense minister sent drones over Pyeongyang to drop propaganda leaflets.

This failed to provoke North Korea into attacking so they could declare martial law. Then they planned to actually strike sites in North Korea. The military refused.

So a federal judge in Houston nullified the sale, and says Jones can keep his Infowars platform. He’s back online.

Judge rejects sale of Alex Jones’ Infowars to The Onion in dispute over bankruptcy auction

The decision is nuts. The judge acknowledged that The Onion did absolutely nothing wrong in the bid process, but tossed it anyway.

The only upstanding actor in the entire affair is The Onion, and it’s the only one hurt by this ruling. I fear this is going to be the way of all things for the next few years.

Well, the families of Sandy Hook would probably argue they’re somehow getting marginalized in this, as well.

The value of The Onion’s bid was increased by pledges from Sandy Hook families to waive their share of any settlement.

They wanted Jones off the air and now he’s back on. If he is successful in getting his straw purchase done at the second attempt, he will stay in the air.

Throwing out The Onion’s purchase is the last thing they wanted.

Right. So wouldn’t you think they’re sitting there thinkingā€¦ā€œdo we not matter in this?ā€

They did matter, but probably not in a way they liked. Part of the judge’s ruling was that the families’ pledge to waive settlement wasn’t valid here as it is the subject of separate legal action.

Probably not wrong on the law, but calling them liars in the adjudication of part of the settlement by Jones for calling them liars is peak 2024.

Hence my point. They are being treated like a peripheral issue here, when the whole fucking thing should be about them. I don’t imagine that sits well with them, and it’s through no fault of their own.

Well, we’ll have to nip that shit in the bud.

Someone’s opinion should change…fast.

We need to somehow convince Limey that the judge is an Apple product.

To quote Chris Rock, this time on the shooter: ā€œI’m not saying he’s right - I’m saying I understand.ā€

You know how, when an unarmed black man is shot by police, they use his mug shot as if it is the only existing photo of the man and describe in detail things like prior criminal activity or drug use? The UHC CEO had a recent DUI and was under investigation for insider trading; yet that never gets mentioned, they use his corporate glamour shot and emphasize that he had kids.

It’s almost as if a white CEO gets a completely different treatment by the news media than a black regular dude. Like when a stupid toy submarine full of billionaires implodes and they literally call the Navy in and they go through days of expensive performative searching when the Navy said on minute one of day one that ā€œyeah…it imploded…we heard it.ā€

I read both of those

Only person on that sub I feel especially horrible for is the kid who went to bond with his dad.

Not sure if Cabrerra territory, but this is a good watch:

For the non-crime of being a health care CEO, well… I’m still pretty much against the murder of CEOs. However, I’m open to it when it comes to rapists, child abusers, animal abusers and murderers .

I always knew that once they were satisfied traumatizing families with trans kids they’d come after autistic kids next. I just didn’t expect it to happen quite so soon.
