It goes without saying now that Trump doesn’t know what a tariff is. No amount of reality is going to change that in his head or in the collective head of his idiot followers.

He doesn’t know that Ferdinand Marcos has been dead for 36 years. Given that, him understanding tariffs is like an earth worm understanding quantum physics.

An obvious outcome to the tariffs on foreign steel coming into the US that went from 25% at the start of the Administration to 50% in early June is happening. US steel companies have responded by raising their prices 16% since June as they engage in opportunistic profit taking affecting many parts of the economy including the automotive, heavy and light industry and construction sectors. Their costs are flat but they are not missing the opportunity to raise prices. This from an industry where 1% price changes are a shock to the system.

He goes by “BongBong Marcos”, but I’m pretty sure when Trump was told that he took it as a racist joke. Which he appreciated.
MAGA must be having a really hard time trying to square the Epstein circle right now. Not only have they just been told that Trump was told in May that he was in the files (like he didn’t know already) after which he “suddenly” decided there was nothing to see here.
Then there’s shit like this:
Epstein is asked under oath - and on camera - specifically if he and Trump ever hung out together with underaged girls, and he pleads the fifth.
Is that a legit video? Why is it in 2010? Maybe, it’s from a deposition related to Trump rather than a deposition related to Epstein.

Trump administration denied Maryland’s request for $15.8m in disaster aid from FEMA after severe flooding hit the western part of the state (Allegheny and Garrett counties) last May.
No explanation given in the denial, which is perhaps unsurprising given the overall political tilt of Maryland.
Right now, Trump’s former personal defense attorney Todd Blanche is meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell. The DOJ investigated this for years and has already convicted Maxwell for her part in the rape trafficking of girls, so what new is there to learn from her? Spoiler: it’s nothing.
Maxwell has no pathway to getting out of jail before her 20 years is up (parole is almost unheard of for federal charges). Blanche is going to offer a pardon - probably upon his leaving office - in return for her silence; there is no other reason for this conversation between these two people.
Maxwell has to weigh up her options, but it’s worth her considering that:
- That’s a wait of nearly 4 years;
- Trump never, ever, ever keeps his promises;
- He may die in office and Bowman may not follow through on the promise (or win re-election and extend her wait by another 4 years); or
- Trump may not leave office - something he has stated is his preference.
She’s a lot of horrible things, but stupid isn’t one of them. She’s going to force Trump to pardon her now and he’s going to do it because he’s desperate. Then the question will be whether she will keep her side of the bargain, as the pardon removes any chance of re-trial on rape trafficking but doesn’t protect her from perjury in future testimony.
Those two are the most red counties in the state. Very rural. Very conservative. Very Trumpian.
Garrett is the furthest west in this 2024 election map and Allegheny is the one just to the right of it.

Thanks, @das - forgot to mention that in my post. When I was at AU, Frostburg State was one of the rugby team’s more bitter rivals. They’re in Allegheny County and I can tell you from personal experience that place is well and truly redneck. I really didn’t care for those racist pricks.

You have to think she’s protected herself against this too. Anything she has stuffed into a box marked “Cincinnati” becomes available…and admissible.
She might jump out of a window. She’ll either commit suicide or be gunned down in a crossfire during an attempted robbery inside a Starbucks.
Maybe… but Epstein himself made no such provisions.
Maxwell had time. And motivation, after Epstein died in jail.
