Trump has been on an absolute dictator spree today. I’m guessing he’s feeling his minerals following the passage of his bill in the Senate and is now almost completely unbound by law or any other checks or balances.
I think focusing on what the ICE budget itself is broken down into and where it goes is more important because the picture it paints is not of an organization just deporting undocumented people but another arm of the law that is involved in imprisonment and human trafficking with no oversight and carte blanche.
It shouldn’t be a surprise but, for some reason, this pisses me off more than his customary stream of utter bollocks. This isn’t a remark in a barely coherent stream of consciousness, someone made this for him to share.
He leans in to, and relies upon, the stupidity of his MAGAT followers. They don’t now, and never will, understand his lies. Project 2025 is in full force.
Because irony hasn’t given up yet, the passage of the bill in the House is being hamstrung by the crapfest that is the DC airport, with multiple Reps being stranded at their origin because flights aren’t being cleared into DC.
Maybe if they hadn’t fired all the people whose job it was to keep the airport running…
If you’re wondering how bad things are right now, Abrego Garcia is in court today and has requested that he be denied bail. He would rather stay in a regular prison than be released and subject to kidnap and trafficking as has been threatened by Noem and Trump.
He is requesting protective custody from the US Government.
I am finally on my flight home from DCA 14 hours after my flight last night was cancelled because a 15 minute thunderstorm blew through 6 hours before my departure time. You know, the same kind that rolls thru the Mid Atlantic a few times per week in the summer.
In the sunny gap between that first 15 minute thunderstorm at 4pm and the next round of showers that moved through 4+ hours later, one plane was landing or taking off every 5 minutes or so. The place was crippled.
I doubt that the detail matters or is persuasive.
The people horrified by the capricious cruelty are already outraged.
The fans are delighted that the gestapo will have more money than many nations (most) defense budgets.
Just looked it up. Only russia and china spend more on their defense budget than the US HOMELAND SECURITY budget for 2025. Germany spends 80 billion, which makes it #4 globally. Even after disaster relief is deducted, the new gestapo will have plenty of funds to pacify its opponents.
Massie claims there are at least 10 GOP “No” votes. Johnson was keeping the vote open far beyond the time limit - which is just another rule that the GOP ignores these days - but gave up after two hours and told his people to go back to their offices. Curiously he didn’t close the vote, he just let his people go and take a piss.
There is no legislative clock ticking here; there is no deadline that will expire if they fail to pass the bill this week. So why the rush? Trump wants to sign the bill on July 4th, and has already planned a victory lap for next week, with venues booked and the undercard lines up.
