A Republic, If You Can Keep It

It must have been doing drag shows. That’s the only explanation of why Yahweh would be angry.

From Abrego Garcia’s latest court filing.

Forced to kneel overnight and forced to piss or shit himself where he knelt. No wonder they want to grab him again so that he can’t tell what he experienced.

This is where we are.

Trump told the group Wednesday that the GOP should not touch Medicaid, Social Security or Medicare if they want to win reelections.

“But we’re touching Medicaid in this bill,” one of the members told Trump.

Even Trump opposes what’s in his own bill.

Despite all the kabuki nonsense overnight - including Johnson holding the longest vote in Congressional history - the bill advanced to debate today. Republicans are going to pass it and then go home to wave flags, grill and watch fireworks in celebration of a country they just betrayed.

Passage is imminent. Republicans who previously opposed it have flipped stating things like they are confident Trump will give them something to make up for it in the near future. Hilarious.

Also because he autographed crap for them.

The fact that someone would come out and say this is what flipped their vote is so pathetic.

Nothing is more American than our policy makers acting like love struck teenie boppers.

Just like Murkowski and Running Man Josh Hawley, they are saying they will vote for it hoping that someone else will fix the bill later. Who if not them and when if not now?

Looking to Trump to hold to his word and issue EO’s to clean up this mess is beyond ludicrous, even for our current times.

Just seeing Chip Roy’s name makes my blood pressure spike

Credit where credit is due: Hakeem Jeffries has been holding the floor in the House since around 5am this morning. He claims he will continue for many hours yet. He has been reading into the record messages from constituents explaining how this bill would hurt them.

I don’t know if he can hold out for long enough to derail Trump’s July 4 signing event, but it’s something.

These clowns are too daft to realize that when people figure out what bill really means and start bitching, Trump will throw them under the bus and say they didn’t do what he told them to, and then he’ll finance a new wave of cretins to primary them.

Like running the criminal Paxton against Cornyn?

Exactly.

One of the most disappointing things about this mess is that Cornyn has been freed (there is no chance that he defeats Paxton in this increasingly unhinged state) and could have done the right thing, but he chose not to. In some ways, this makes him even more culpable.

The Medicaid cuts don’t phase in until after the mid-terms. Convenient, huh?

Of all the villains in this corrupt scheme, JD Vance may be the most morally bankrupt and terminally stupid.

Abrego Garcia’s lawyers petitioned the court to stop the DOJ making extra-judicial statements about the case. For reference, this is standard DOJ policy and good prosecutorial practice that has been abandoned by Trump’s DOJ. Having considered the petition, the court has instructed the DOJ to shut the fuck up about the case outside of court filings.

If you recall, after issuing new charges against Garcia, Pam Bondi accused him of being everything from an MS-13 kingpin, to a murderer, to a rapist, all while charging him for [checks notes] “trafficking” migrants across state lines. Garcia’s lawyers have now set up the DOJ to impale itself on its own rhetoric or actually, you know, shut the fuck up (which you know they can’t/won’t do).

By way of background, years ago, Garcia was pulled over in Houston with a car load of people. That was it; a traffic stop because he had an overloaded car. During the stop, he told the cops he was heading to Tennessee. This is what was dredged up by the DOJ and turned into a charge against Garcia for trafficking migrants. This is an entirely new charge that was made against him while he was in El Salvador getting tortured, and used as a fig leaf to explain his return to the U.S.

If loading up a vehicle with migrants and trafficking them across states lines is such a heinous crime, I bet Abbott and De Santis are shitting themselves. Eh? Oh.

Unsurprisingly, the bill passed.
