I was blocked from WaPo, as it might have been answered there, but could you expand on “ran over another boat.” My imagination is having trouble with that.
One career, scotched.
I have a few SWA buddies who were Naval Aviators and flew off the boat in their careers. Unfortunately, they say, it’s not uncommon to lose 2 aircraft while out at sea.
The delicate orchestra of launching and recovering aircraft off an aircraft carrier is a truly amazing feat, especially when one considers the thousands of very fine young people doing all this work.
And the very hard, difficult and dangerous work they do everyday. Wartime actions are challenging and stuff happens. For example, the F-18 lost over the edge while it was being towed across the flight deck was lost as the vessel was taking evasive action from Houthi incoming munitions. Imagine the physical forces at play towing a 32,000lb. plane around on the deck of a 220,000,000lb. ship lurching to and fro. It’s super easy to say “look at that stupid Navy, look how stupid they are”. That’s rarely the correct thing to say though. Unless you are an internet expert.
That said, when you are a Navy Captain and you run into a commercial vessel, you typically get canned. Some things are just not allowed.
When I worked as flight deck corpsman on the USS Kitty Hawk. Ships crew was highly trained and practiced almost every day. Its also leads to errors after you think you got it down to a T and it turns into an S.
Just spoke with a reporter at pro publica. a former client is being held in el salvador. Young kid. Recovering from a broken leg. Minor offense without immigration comsequence. He told his mom that he had signed papers agreeing to be removed back to venezuela. They never heard from him.
The nazis built most of their camps in other countries too.
In the latest ball-stomping of the Trump regime by due process, Rümeysa Öztürk was released from detention today within hours of a court so ordering.
When stupidity, laziness and incompetence intersect, you will always find Trump.
They aren’t bothering to put the even tiniest fig leaf over this blatant scheme to gift Trump a luxury personal jumbo jet.

When it reverts to being owned by the Trump presidential library, which doesn’t exist, it will be his to use while the costs of running it will be paid by donations to the library he will never build.
The number of listening devices on that thing will be off the charts
He’s going to use it as Air Force 1 for the time being. At this point he might as well conduct business on a thread on Trump Social.
Air Farce One
Trump and China agree to cut back the tariffs for 90 days. Ignoring the obvious defeat this is for Trump:
- There will still be a 30% tariff on goods coming from China, which is massive by normal standards;
- There will still be empty shelves over the coming months;
- There will still be inflation caused by the reduced tariff;
- There is still no expectation of a sensible outcome to this in 90 days; and
- Fuck you to anyone who just signed deals to build doll and pencil factories in the U.S.
You might want to sit down for this:
So Trump is going to declare victory and move on. This is my shocked face.
No shit.
Therein lies the rub. How can anyone behave ethically when they have no clue what ethics looks like even when it’s presented to them in the form of a fucking jumbo jet!
Also missing from the narrative around this is the fact that Qatar funds Hamas.
Qatar said “not so fast.”
So much winning.
Here’s another example…

Competence matters.
The disaster at Newark has highlighted how DOGE completely fucked this up. They didn’t fire controllers, but they fired a ton of the people who keep the controllers’ systems working.
And, shocker, that shit has been breaking down almost daily.
