This is from the White House I assume and, if so, obviously, there is zero chance that it’s accurate. After a cursory look I can find nothing to corroborate any of the unusually high rates the image claims. So I assume that the WH is taking a 20% tariff and claiming further currency manipulation and whatever else they can dream up to arrive at a 80%, 90% (90%!) level.
It is from the WH. Interpret that however you like.
I can tell you the South Korea rate listed is waaaay off. Thanks to the KFTA signed back in the 2010’s the duties and taxes on American goods dwindled to less than 1% by 2021. Since 2017 there have been no tariffs on American cars being imported here. Still, nobody here wants to drive American cars.
Chuck was correct: the White House said their figures include currency manipulation and trade barriers. In other words, those numbers are bullshit.
I also read that a coal miner spoke. Yeah, Americans everywhere are pining for that guy to get his job back, especially if it means more inflation and a recession.
I remember reading during the election that coal mining employs fewer workers than Arby’s.
Workin’ those beef mines in East Virginny.
The futures market gapped down 25 points to begin the overnight session. I probably don’t need to point it out, but this type of price action is highly unusual.
I’m starting to wonder if Trumpy is in fact not offering the economic panacea that I had always imagined.
I’m sick of getting rubber vomit that was made in China.
Not on my watch, pally. All the rubber vomit and rubber dog poop will be made right here in the good ole US and A.
FIFY - RIP Iceman
Bobsaget a day late and $1.22 short.
Arby’s! We have the black lung!
(cough cough)
Living here in Korea for as long as I have it’s become very clear that American made goods aren’t really in demand. Obviously agriculture products are imported and other things but nobody wants American cars here. Most home appliances and electronics are locally made and of high quality. Even things like junk food and Coca Cola are licensed and produced here in Korea. Your Doritos are made down in Cheongju by Lotte Foods. Starbucks Koreas bought out Starbucks a few years back and only pays for licensing at this point. My point is nobody here is clamoring for American made products.
Hold up, are you suggesting that a man notoriously well known for making then hawking shitty merch is now trying to over inflate the value and hawk his country’s inferior products unsuccessfully on the world market?
Maaaaybe just maybe he doesn’t know shit about shit.
