I didn’t watch that nonsense last night. The news and social media is, of course, awash with clips of it which I have found supremely unwatchable.
Here’s the thing: if I won a lottery to have one, consequence-free swing at Trump up on that podium, I’d walk straight past him and punch JD Vance. How could you not?
Speaking of Tesla and their board of directors…the chairman has sold off $117 million worth of stock since Musk’s inauguration, capitalizing on the post-election gains before Musk tanked it. It’s basically been a pump and dump scheme.
SCOTUS rules that Trump Administration must unfreeze foreign aid payments for work already completed. Trump defied a lower court injunction, which is what brought it to the Supreme Court. I assume he’s simply going to defy the Supreme Court, so Constitutional crisis…engaged.
Musk has been floating the conspiracy theory that all the gold in Ft. Knox has been stolen, despite the U.S. Treasury’s audits and assurances. Trump now wants to “see for himself”. I picture him loading up his pockets with as much as he can.
I assume Abbott will just not call for an election to fill the empty seat and let it remain empty for the remainder of the term. Maybe you necks can figure out how to find a candidate healthy enough to serve out a term for a change. Everybody else would appreciate it, thanks.
I’m in NYC on a work/sales trip for the week. First, man, it’s crazy to be back in civilization (Napa Valley is a bubble believe it or not). Second, I’m reminded of something one of my fraternity brothers once said, that every redneck in this country should have to live in NYC for one year. Then ask them how they view the world.
As importantly, last night I had dinner at Chambers, a fantastic restaurant in lower Manhattan. I’m by myself and as I’m wont to do in those situations, I started chatting with the kind individual next to me at the bar. Unbeknownst to me, he’s the Canadian ambassador the UN. Fascinating conversation. I came away from it with a couple of thoughts. We’re in a bad moment, to say the least. But I’m at least somewhat hopeful the world won’t burn down around us.
If you thought it was bad that the Dems all sat by and watched Green get removed from the chamber without doing anything…
An Animal House style walkout was the least that should’ve happened. Jeffries should’ve got up, exalted John Lewis’ “good trouble” and called every Dem to follow him out the door - preferably humming the national anthem.
Trump has announced a tariff exemptions for auto parts from Canada and a bunch of shit from Mexico. So basically it’s all chaos with no commitment behind it and all it does is piss people off.
The DJIA is devolving into a real time gauge of Trump’s bullshit. Just look at the last two days: tariff on, tariff off, tariff on…
I don’t have a strong feeling about this at all. I don’t have a problem with Green, but it is just a different version of Schumer et al singing stupid songs. It just highlights how weak you are. Dems are lousy politicians in general, not because they don’t stand up and shout enough, but because they can’t articulate and hammer home messages that unite a majority of Americans.
