Flaco Jimenez.

I have always been a fan of the accordion. He was not just a great genre bending musician, Flaco was probably the greatest ambassador the accordion ever had.

Clifton Chenier would like a word with you

Yeah, yeah, Weird Al would like a word too. I’m my eyes there’s no comparison. One was a novelty act, the other stuck with Zydeco. I stand by what I said.

Heh, I didn’t realize those were fightin words. Always loved Flaco, that was the only other guy that comes close, to me.

Weird Al and Lawrence Welk are on a tier just, just slightly below those 2.

“Lawrence Welk” and “fightin words” in the same post. What a world.

Why are you calling Clifton Chenier a novelty act? And let’s not forget Myron Floren. As for me, the Texas Tornados live in my head.

Ok, who had ‘accordion fight’ on their OWA bingo card today?

It should be clear how in my head I went from ballroom blitz to an accordion powered version of Blitzkrieg Bop, and it is a delight not to have to disappoint you fine fellows.

Outstanding. Here’s a Finnish bluegrass band covering AC/DC, I love how dude shows up on a riding mower with accordion in his lap and a fox on his head

As someone who just attended a Weird Al concert last night, calling him a novelty act is about as accurate as calling you a nubile co-ed.

I’ve seen him, and I am certain that no one has ever called him nubile.

Well, accordion dude was late to rehearsal because he took his time choosing JUST the right hat.

Also, I was about 14 when I realized that rednecks exist in other countries, specifically European countries. Talk about thunderstruck.

Los Texas Tornados is most likely the album I have listened to most consistently over the course of my life. I cannot remember a time when it was not constantly in my rotation.

IMO there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a novelty act and Weird Al is one of the all time greatest. In my view saying he is a novelty act is not a knock against him, his creativity, or his musical ability. I wasn’t implying that he is no good or a failure. Hell, for decades now, he has been able to maintain his relevancy and success. Also, whenever I’m standing next to a sarcophagus, I look nubile as fuck-all.

I wonder how Augie’s doing?

Hope he’s still about a mover
