When was your in-law at USC? A relative of mine (thru marriage) was the special teams and TE coach at USC from 2010-2019 (minus one year when he was at Michigan).
I never met LeAnn but got to know her brother well enough through a mutual friend. That family had its demons but man, could they serve up some fine BBQ. RIP to both of them and thank you for your contributions to the Austin BBQ scene…
Two-time Oscar-winning actress Glenda Jackson, 87.
In addition to a storied acting career, she also spent over 20 years as a member of parliament.
Craig Naiver.
Craig coached safeties in 2020. Now he is the defensive coordinator for Tim Beck at Coastal Carolina.
I remember him well. Never liked the way his time with UT ended.
Didn’t he “leave” when Orlando was let go? If he did, isn’t that pretty standard?
Reckon that depends on the definition of “standard.” Plenty of instances where a new coordinator brings in their own staff. Plenty of examples where coaches are retained. I thought Naivar was good enough to be retained. Ash didn’t share the sentiment.
Robert Gottlieb, editor extraordinaire
Teresa Nervosa (Taylor), drummer for the Butthole Surfers, has died aged 60. She was great live, R.I.P.
Frederic Forrest.
RIP, Chef
I’m gonna get me some fuckin’ mangoes.
I didn’t realize he was Blue Duck in Lonesome Dove.
I downloaded the audiobook to Audible the day he died and just finished it today. Goddamn. What a book, and the narrator (Richard Poe) was incredible. I need a drink.
I’ve read it thrice, but listening to it would be a bit on another level.
Who is Richard Poe?
Professional narrator apparently. I’ve been really into audiobooks for the past couple years and a great narrator can really make a huge difference. This is the first one I’ve listened to with him, but apparently he has done a lot (all?) of McCarthy’s books. https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiWy8Dkrt__AhV2LNQBHdHcDEAYABAAGgJvYQ&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESbeD21jbJBX6Irfqbrp0UAuHtRvzgBmnEaF_VraLpOYOh-Aj_vWJLOIgIfajzmj5IxM247aDJPX1_e90zKP-zok5P8sfNm_bTtM57Yiz5mx-C51RE0Bg0UciKzidDN7YnZ1JBPRHH-4NdhvP9h1U&sig=AOD64_1L_qe2si9fqJ9WUt_2L7tr0P3gxA&q&adurl&ved=2ahUKEwja0LXkrt__AhXQk2oFHUmkAK8Q0Qx6BAgNEAE
Very cool, will definitely check him out.
I have an Audible subscription that includes a book a month. So I try to listen to at least one book a month. The reader makes so much difference with an audio book. There are some pretty bland readers and I’ll have to speed up the reading to 1.5 to slog through to the end. The best reader I’ve heard so far is washed up actor Craig Wasson.
