2023 Dead Pool

Wayne Smith, arguably the great scribe (journalist) of Australian rugby and swimming, passed away yesterday at age 69. Very unexpected and I’m going to miss reading his weekly columns.

That would’ve wrecked his whole business model.

The Unabomber, 81.

I would have never guessed he was that old. His mug, and the police sketch are etched in my mind, but they are frozen from whatever years they appeared.

re: the police sketch, I remember walking into an outdoor bbq on a coldass day a few years ago, I’d let my curly hair go a bit wild, had the beard going, had the grey hoodie pulled up and aviators on.

“Holy fuck it’s the Unabomber!” says the first buddy that sees me.

He was good in a lot of things.

For some reason I really enjoyed his work in Things to do in Denver When You’re Dead.

Didn’t watch a lot of musical’s but that one resonated with 18 year old me.
