Well, you might be right. It’s just my opinion. I’ll add one former GM said this morning, “Goodrum isn’t a big leaguer anymore.” Doesn’t mean he’s right either. Just his opinion as well. I’m sure there might be 1 or 2 teams that will give him a shot. We will see. I wish him no ill will, but I want my baseball team to be successful. Hopefully this move Click made helps keep us that way. We need quality all around depth. Whoever we have backing up Altuve and Peña need to be able to hit too, not just field, especially given the frequency of Altuve’s injuries and the fact that Peña has never played anything close to a 162 game season.
So funny. A 26th man will not determine a team’s success or failure. No doubt your GM guru was talking about his hitting because Goodrum damn sure is a MLB fielder.
26th men can quickly not be the 26th man due to injury. I’d like my 26th man to show a pulse at the plate. If you can find one who is just as good a fielder who can hit you should make that move. But you can keep Goodrum on your fantasy team since you feel it will not determine your teams success or failure.
Oh good grief. Diaz was supposed to be your primary backup/spot infielder, not Goodrum. Goodrum is what he is, a good fielder who can get you an inning or two at multiple positions, be a late inning pinch runner, if you need him. But that’s about it. You now have a bigger need with injuries to Altuve and Peña, and the Astros made a move. Good. But to bash Goodrum because he wasn’t something he was never intended to be is just silly.
