Anthony Rendon hit LH for the first time in his career recently, against Brett Phillips, and promptly homered. Castro needs to get with the program.

Niko was hitting 50 points higher than Castro.
All this hand-wringing about a low-risk acquisition whose role on the team was always going to be very limited unless injuries forced him into an expanded role or he significantly exceeded expectations. The former happened, the latter didn’t, the team has decided they have better options, and now his services are no longer needed. It’s not like he was in very many game-changing situations anyway, so his overall impact on the team’s performance was negligible.

Update on how future CFer Pedro Leon is doing…
The SS experiment is dead (can’t imagine why): 15 starts in CF, 10 starts in RF and just 3 games on the infield grass so far this season.
At the plate his K rate is even higher than last season (31.9% vs 30.5%).
I have read so many posts and comments ( in several different sites) that Maldonado needs to be replaced/ upgraded.
I get it: fans will be fans. Fans is short for fanatics.
But last night proves once and for all that ( barring injury) Maldy will be primary starting catcher the rest of 2022 and be an important part of 2023.
The fact that he came through and gave the team some insurance with a 3 run double is ONLY the gravy.
Watch the dugout when he hit that ball.
That’s why he is not going anywhere.
This team - every player and coach- loves him.
It takes so much more than talent and hitting ability to win over the course of a 162 game season and hopefully a World Series.
Right now I don’t think this team would replace him with Johnny Bench or Ivan Rodriguez in their primes.
