2022 roster

That is bullshit. The unavailable stuff was Baker’s doing. Graveman pitched whenever he was asked to pitch. The idea that Graveman hurt the team is fucking absurd.

I’m betting that one year is a big sticking point for Click.

Good to know Jim.

I’m just a fan sitting here in Idaho. I only know what is said.

And Dusty said in an interview that ( when asked about not using him in a specific game - when he had only pitched in 1 of the previous 2 games) Graveman wasn’t available and either said, or implied that he didn’t recover as fast as some of the other relievers.

I have no idea if Graveman was asked if he could pitch or not, but Dusty stayed away from him specifically for that reason.

Or he lied in the interview.

Whatever. Your saying Graveman hurt the team is more of your nonsense.

I’m not going to go as far as saying Graveman hurt the team, but it was actually said that he had issues recovering and pitching back to back games, at least at some point during his Astros tenure.

He was a converted starter so that is hardly shocking. I do not care enough about this bullshit to research whether he did pitch two days in a row ever. He did pitch more than one inning on occasion, and the sainted Hinch would not use a relief pitcher more than two consecutive games.

That point is not what pisses me off. Saying Graveman hurt the team is crap.

They were keeping everyone fresh for the postseason push.

If he had to go on a particular day he would have.

I think so too. Two years maybe but not three.

Agreed. Analytically-driven teams don’t typically give relievers three or four year deals because their performance can vary so much year to year.

Looks like the Neris deal is for two years, $17M overall.

For comparison, that’s not too far off from the Astros’ deal with Pressly, which was a 2 year deal at $8.75M apiece ($17.5M overall). The big differences being that Pressly got an automatically-vesting option for a third year based on IP.

It’s very easy to hate these one year rental deals. I understand the Graveman/Toro trade. Toro was blocked in an INF role that was never going to change in Houston. De La Cruz move for Garcia made little sense to me at the time, particularly given the long relief role Garcia played. Of course, we made it to the World Series. Impossible to argue the logic given that was the ultimate return on investment.

Have we signed Carlos back as of yet?

Yimi was a good addition in the playoffs, and where was DLC going to play? He was not as good as Jake or Siri, and that is not even considering the MLB OF. I would have been fine with Yimi on the club in 2022 or not. Letting Graveman go surprised me but not letting Yimi go.

I agree with all of that. Adding Yimi, Graveman, and Maton solidified the weakest part of the team, and were nails in the Postseason. I wish they could have kept all three of them, but am not worked up about it.

Were we at opening day, the bullpen might look like: Pressley, Neris, Baez, Stanek, Montero, Maton + (James, Paredes, Taylor, Scrubb, Abreu) + Javier if we can’t unload Odirizzi. Astros ran into a good amount of bad luck with health of young RP last season. Feels to me like we are set here.

The Rays need to open a 40 man spot

They are dangling Joey Wendle who could be a solid part time shortstop and depth piece.

Projected to get $4 mil in arbitration and arb eligible in 2023 also.

Lefty bat slightly above average and above average defender at 2b, 3b, and ss.

Between he and Diaz they could cover short until Pena is ready ( or Astros decide he is no longer a super 2 risk in mid June)

Problem is they would want prospects back that are not required to be on 40 man so it does not help that crowding.

How about let’s sign Correa. His market is dwindling and he is still talking to Houston.

Joey Wendle? No.

I have to admit I still prefer Correa. I wish I was more hopeful.

Correa over Wendle? The hell you say.

Maybe you should just chill and watch the events as they unfold.

Wendle to Miami, we can put that one to bed.
