2022 roster

I misread this as “I would rather see Peña get shot” and thought that one Hidalgo was enough.

I wouldn’t mind Pena hitting like Hidalgo from 2000.

I was thinking that if Correa is not resigned he could be a good utility player to pair with Jeremy Pena at shortstop

Shortstop was his primary position in 2020 and has played 47 games there the past 2 seasons with what looks to be good defensive results.

I did not realize until I looked, just how weak his bat is. It just seems like he is Babe Ruth against the Astros when I watch him.

Looking over the long extensions that pre-arbitration stars have signed like Wander Franco, I think the team missed the boat on Correa.

They definitely should have offered him an extension years ago like they did Alex Bregman.

In fact, I think they should offer the same deal to Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez:

650K For 2022, then 5 yrs $100mil 2023-2027 buying out all 3 arbitration years and the first 2 years if free agency.

Altuve, Bregman, McCullers, and possibly Verlander are currently the only salaries of over $5mil for 2023 and later

But arbitration for the young stars will start to add up.

Bellinger got 11.5 mil in 2020 his 1st arbitration year. Judge got 8.1.

Judge is predicted 17.1 his 3rd year and Bellinger 16.1, Soto 16.2 in 2nd year.

I think they should lock them up now if possible.

I wouldn’t mind him hitting Hidalgo’s average season over his career:

110g = 59r, 19hr, 62rbi, .269 avg.

.345ob, .490 slg = .835 ops, 110 ops+

They could have and he just blew it off like he has done any of their other offers.

When was Noe reincarnated?

Correa was always going to get to free agency unless you blew his doors off. Always. The thing that made Bregman sign is age. Bregman would have been a FA at like 31 like Springer was. Correa is the perfect age to be a FA.

I understand your point, but for accuracy Bregman would have become a free agent at 28

And turned 29 just before the season started that year.

NOW he will turn 31 just before his first free agent season starts.

Noe never replied to himself.

Wow, clearly management did not feel the same as we did about Graveman.

With Pressly and Stanek in the top 2 spots and Maton also in the high leverage mix, the team needed an experienced #3 or #4

High K former closer

He was 1 year and $7 mil cheaper than Graveman.

This move neither excites nor disappoints me.

Now they need to make a roster move to fit him on to the 40.

I think there were misgivings here too with his late season shakiness.

I hope Graveman brings everything to the White Sox that Kimbrel brought.

I wonder who’s going to be daft enough to take Kimbrel in a trade.

I really like Graveman’ stuff, but he clearly wasn’t as good with the Astros as he was before the trade.

He was inconsistent in the playoffs as well.

And there was also the issue of him not being as available as other relievers. I think 3 out of 4 days EVEN IF IT WAS NEEDED was not possible with Graveman and that hurt the team.

You get Neris throwing more strikes and he’s a top-tier reliever in every way.

I hope Josh Miller can be Strom 2.0.
