Lefty Colton Gordon had TJS in May '21 and the Astros popped him in the 8th round of the draft two months later. Encouraging start to his professional career. His numbers so far in '22 after going 4 innings today for the Peckers: 32 K vs 3 BB in 21 IP with 15 hits allowed.

6th round pick 6’6" Collin Price, who saw time at CF and RF while at Mercer in addition to his catching duties, went into RF tonight after the injury to Drew Gilbert. The first pick in this year’s draft to hit Fayetteville is also off to a nice start at the plate: .387/.457/.581 after 9 games.

Hit the wall going full steam. Almost as if he didn’t know how close he was. Definitely got his bell rung.

Eventually the medical staff get him up and walking towards the dugout. And about halfway there Gilbert basically says nope can’t do this and sits down. Only then do they call the stretcher out for him.

Even though the reports say arm contusion, it won’t surprise me to hear he’s in concussion protocol.

Peckers lose their 11th in a row despite a fine outing by Miguel Ullola: 5 IP, 0 H, 2 BB, 10 K.

100 whiffs in 61.2 IP for the 20 year old Dominicano (won’t mention the 42 walks).

Miguel Ullola, RHP, Astros: Featured under the Helium section in this week’s Hot Sheet, Ullola is one of the more intriguing under-the-radar arms in the Houston system. He fronts a four-pitch mix with a low-90s fastball with intriguing analytical properties and backs it up with a sweeper slider in the high 80s. The Astros have spent recent days working with Ulolla to tweak the way he gripped that pitch, and on Tuesday it appeared to pay dividends. Working the back half of a piggyback, Ullola spun five no-hit innings against Charleston and punched out 10 hitters (the second double-digit strikeout effort of his career) and got 16 swinging strikes in 77 pitches (20.7%).
