2021 roster

Baker was hired BEFORE Click. So it is Crane.

Espada will be our manager next year. Write it down.

Donā€™t be so sure. Crane extended Dustyā€™s contract through 2022.

Iā€™m not saying itā€™s ideal, but this isnā€™t Tuckerā€™s first game out there. Heā€™ll be fine. He might not be great, but heā€™ll be fine.

Luhnow had firing power so Iā€™d imagine Click would as well but with Dusty being hired by Crane, Click would need a really good reason to do so. And ā€œheā€™s not doing the bullpen rightā€ is not a good enough reason if youā€™re winning 60% of your games. From Cranes prospective anyway

Dusty is not under contract for ā€˜22, is he?

Itā€™s a distinct possibility that my memory has failed me, but I recall he got a 2-year extension after last season.

He is only extended through this season. He signed a 1-year deal for 2020 then extended through 2021.

This. And there is no way they extend him again. Iā€™m telling you, Espada will manage next year. (If I say that forcefully and with conviction it will come true).

Yep. Failed memory. No surprise there.

Iā€™m pretty sure he and Smith just exchanged to balance out the money and keep the Astros under the CBT.

Youā€™re probably right but we know Raley canā€™t get guys out and heā€™s had Strom in his corner, Montero hasnā€™t had that chance yet.

If they DFA Montero, I will scream. He is a decent reclamation project.

There are a couple of ways. Both crazy but one would be less painful. Thatā€™s all Iā€™m saying.

The suspension is bogus!

  • It had been three weeks since he had pitched due to COVID restrictions, bereavement leave (death of grandfather), and maturity leave (birth of his son).
  • Of the 15 pitches he threw, only 6 were strikes (no control)

Granted, the only HBP came AFTER the Slam.

Was part of the lure for Dusty to take the coaching job (during the fallout years) the possibility of getting he another chance for a WS ring?

It would be a shame that some of his managerial decisions/approaches might scotch that.

He has a ring as a player and managed arguably the greatest player of this generation to a series loss. He now has a team which grasped the reins of a dynasty until the scandal turned the franchise fortunes, and he is not owed a legacy trophy.

All true! I was thinking only of his managerial career.
But the Disney ending would be great!

What Disney ending? I think youā€™re missing the point of the post.

What am I missing?
