Good question. I feel like Robinson was more in imitation of or homage to Cagney. But that’s me talking out of left field, and my Looney Tunes IQ says Robinson.
Cagney never actually said, “You dirty rat!,” in any of his films
“Come out and take it, you dirty, yellow-bellied rat, or I’ll give it to you through the door!”
Both were terrific bad guys. Cagney’s best - Tom Powers and Cody Jarrett. Robinson’s best - Little Caesar and Johnny Rocco.

Right - Johnny Rocco. Major scenery chewing by Lionel Barrymore. Claire Trevor upstaged them all; which is hard to do with Bogart and Bacall in the cast. If you haven’t seen it a while, another viewing won’t disappoint.

I watched it a year or so ago, when we were going to the Keys. There’s just nothing not to like about that movie.

Son and I were theorizing that maybe this is for effects of a dose of the vaccine?
That’s my hope. I believe the Astros got the first dose of the Moderna vaccine on March 29, so April 26 would have been four weeks.
