Corresponding move?
Havenât seen anything yet.
Is this a surprise bordering on shock? I thought we were about to get Framber and Odorizzi back?
Maybe itâs just a one-start thing to give Framber and Odorizzi a little more time? But it may mean the news on Urquidy ainât great.
I am afraid your inference on Urquidy may be correct; I share your concern. It will be fun to see Tyler, though, if only for a cameo appearance.
In that article in The Athletic that I linked to over in the injury thread Kaplan said it was likely the Astros would be overly cautious with Urquidy and wouldnât bring him back until early June so I wouldnât automatically assume that his arm is about to fall off.
My guess is they will option Luis Garcia too AAA.
Man, I like Garcia. I know itâs a tight squeeze, but Iâd hate to see him get squeezed out completely.
Heâs the scheduled starter today.
If he does go down it might just be until the next time a move needs to be made.
Understood. Moves like that happen all the time, and he has the flexibility with options. More of a comment that I really like Garcia and think he can be a key piece of this staff.
Castro should be playing more. I love Machete and do not care what he hits, but Castro is too good to be playing so little.
Agreed. Last year the backup catcher spot was exceptionally weak, and Maldonado earned his weight in gold. But Castro is a huge improvement, and itâd be a shame to not take advantage of that.
When we had Chirinos and Machete in 2019, it was the best catching situation I could remember. This one is equally good, but Baker is not taking advantage of it.
I wonder to what extent is has been Dusty trying to let Machete hit his way out of his slump
Weak rationale, if so.
I donât care about Maldonadoâs slump. And Machete is a work horse, and I love him on this team. But Castro can bring a lot to the table, and Dusty just leaves it in the kitchen.
So you donât think pinch hitting him in the 9th inning of an 8-1 game is optimal use?
Whatâs the popular term these daysâŚsuboptimal
Lack of synergy.
