2021 roster

So … the penalty (to the team) for being exposed is more severe than the penalty for contracting the disease? If they actually test positive, they can postpone until healthy, but if they are just hiding from their covid shadow they have to use replacement players?

You were expecting logic from Manfred?

First, I don’t know all the details and how true all of that is. Just something I read. Secondly, I don’t think this means they’d postpone all games indefinitely, only give the team a day or so to regroup. It doesn’t mean they won’t have to play any games without those players. Finally, I don’t think the COVID protocol is meant to be punitive. It’s a safety measure, not a punishment.

So the Twins have the same issue…several players exposed to COVID. Their games have been cancelled until further notice.

It appears it IS punitive with the Astros.

That is insane.

The broadcast has been wondering WTF? Click is wondering WTF? I’m wondering WTF?

I don’t know which is better.

Presumably they’re gonna have to squeeze those games in somewhere down the line.

I sure would derive a lot more pleasure from the Yankees’ suckitude if the Astros weren’t just as bad right now.

Separate things. Enjoy Yankees’ problems no matter what else is happening.

Maldonado blames the fact that extension talks cooled off for the fact he struck out 17 times in his first 37 plate appearances.

Subsequent to the extension being announced today, Maldonado goes 0-3 and whiffs twice in today’s game vs the Rockies.

Among players with at least 40 PAs this season, no one in baseball has a lower OPS (.231) than Maldonado.

With a starter needed for Thursday’s game and Cristian Javier stretched out, he gets called up after today’s game while Peter Solomon gets sent back to the ATS.

I haven’t seen but do they have to make a 40-man roster move or do ped suspended players still count toward the 40-man? I thought they were taken off but I could easily be wrong

Or is it different for majors vs minors?

Emanuel was on the 40 man roster when he got busted. He was transferred to the restricted list at that point and no longer counted towards the 40 man roster limit. Once he came off that list, he again counts towards the 40 man roster limit. So a corresponding move would be necessary if the 40 man is full.

Javier did a great job, but he must go deeper in the games.

I thought Solomon showed a bit of promise in the 2 inning of work I saw of him. At least he didn’t get hammered.

This is interesting…

Altuve returns tonight (also, roof open).

Odorizzi just had a tight muscle issue and will miss two starts. No structural damage.

I guess it just takes a picture perfect evening to open the roof
