2021 roster

FWIW, current state of the roster in my view. Assumes roster sizes will be set at 26 with max of 13 pitchers. Yellow are the players expected to be on the injured list to start the season, green are the players on the restricted list and blue are the players I expect to lose their 40-man roster spots as free agents get signed and space is needed.

Read somewhere, Click said he is ā€œkeeping his powder dryā€ because there is too much uncertainty with the market and 2021 schedule. doesnā€™t want to rush into anything. Expects free agent signings to pick up as the season nears.

Be also said that both Springer and Brantley are still in play.

" we are engaged on a number of fronts, those guys included. And so we will continue to put our best foot forward there and see if we can keep the team together."

Sounds to me like nothing else is going to happen until at least one of them gets signed.

Due to lack of roster space and expected salary Click is saving his bullets for them.

I just hope that if the Astros donā€™t sign them, there are quality free agents left on the board.

But if Click can sign either of them, much less both, he becomes an instant Houston hero.

The lack of position player depth on the 40 man roster is glaring. We could use a JD Davis, Teoscar Hernandez, Kiki Hernandez infusion. Sadly, MLB decided we needed to be gutted for a decade for playing to the same rules that every other top team in the league played within.

First NRI (aside from Colin Barber) of 2021. No MLB experience. I wouldnā€™t think he has a great shot at making opening day roster but will provide outfield depth at AAA (although the 25 year old enters 2021 with only 30 games of experience at that level). Currently hitting .282/.352/.427 for Gigantes Del Cibao in LIDOM play and that .779 OPS ranks 5th in the league. Toolsy guy who brings speed and defense. Minor league free agent.

I have no idea who Deesha Thosar of the NYDN is but she is reporting that Mets and Blue Jays are the final two bidders on Georgeā€¦

I think thatā€™s been the conventional wisdom for a week or two.

The heaping helping of baggage that comes with Puig also includes this btwā€¦

Donā€™t want Puig. He is a punk.

Puig has the skills to be an improvement over Reddick on the field and at the plate. However, Puig is such an attention seeker that Iā€™m somewhat dubious if his style of put on goofiness is as conducive to a good team chemistry as was Reddickā€™s organic goofiness. I really think we need a calming veteran presence somewhere in the outfield. It seems as if Springer is too much to hope for at this point but Iā€™m trying real hard to be optimistic and will be until the bitter end when the cold hard reality slaps me in the face.

I donā€™t think itā€™s anything close to put on goofiness; I think heā€™s crazy as fuck.

Ken Rosenthal has the power to overrule any contract and send him to Houston when he reports the signing

His mom had him tested. Heā€™s actually not crazy.

I really hope the team can work out a long term deal with Carlos Correa.

I realize he has been injury prone but think he has grown physically and mentally and that is behind him.

I see an MVP trophy is his future in the next 5 years.
