2021 roster

2 weeks ago, the bullpen was clearly the team’s weakness and I think we can agree that it, if not a strength, is no longer a liability.

So what is it now? Rotation? Offense? Bench? Fielding? Managing?

The rotation has talent and depth. Each member has had great starts also consecutive great starts. In a 162 season, all players go through ups and downs.

If the rotation can just get to where they are each consistently pitching 5 innings every start and 6-7 occassionally then all will be well. It’s the 3 or 4 inning outings giving up 4+ runs that is maddening and throwing the whole staff off.

I think that is reasonable and very doable.

This offense, more than any other I have ever seen, relies on passing the baton and feeding off of each other. With Bregman and Yuli out, and sudden promotionnof Chas to starter, they are a bit out if sync. Also there is a different lineup nearly every day so that has also challenged them to get into a rhythm. Once Alex and Yuli return, and Chas has more starts under his belt ( and is no longer needed in #2 or #6 spot in lineup) this offense should gel into the 6+ runs per game machine it is capable of being.

Getting Alex and Yuli back will also help strengthen the bench so that improvement needs no more words.

The defense, overall has been fine, if not great. Tucker is an adventure in RF but solid. Robel missed some plays at 3rd but now he’s out. Alex and Yuli playing everyday will improveoff-season. Yordan has surprised me in left.

Managing: I’m afraid nothing can be done until the offseason, so if the team does not win it all, I’m afraid that will be the reason.

On a positive note- Dusty has not used Raley as a 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd option since he got his shiny new arms.

Managing questions, relative to extra innings: To the average fan, it would appear that the addition runner on 2nd in extra innings adds pressure to every player in the field to WIN the game quickly.

How does that additional pressure compare to the pressure of relieving in late innings of close or tied regulation games?

If there is a difference in pressure, should at least one of the top tier of the BP - Stanek, Graveman & Pressley - be held in reserve for extra innings - or the next game if they are not needed?

PS: (9th inning tonight; same as last night) Apparently not…

Raley had his suspension lowered from 3 game to 2, Astros will play the next two games with 25

All joking aside about Raley, fuck those umps in Seattle for that ejection.

There are downstream consequences to those decisions.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

I don’t know who the hell Wilson, J. is but apparently he’s starting at third base today.

According to McTaggart (via Baker), Bregman drove to Houston today and could be activated on Tuesday.

Waived by the A’s, claimed by the Stros to replace Robel, so he must be good.

Glad he’s getting a chance.

Pffft! He’s no Josh Reddick.

I hope we checked his statcast.

Typical stubborn idiocy. I need to ignore you as most everyone else does.

Here comes the JimR posting police telling people what to do again.

Maybe I should put you on ignore.

Please do ignore me, but I am not the only person here who laughs at you. I am not criticizing the fact that you post; post all you want, as I sure sure you will. I am saying the substance of these recent posts is dumbass stupidity.

Not a surprise you cannot tell the difference. No doubt a lot of what people say goes over your head.

Why do you insist on trying to insult people? I posted that Reddick would be a good backup outfielder for the rest of this season. My opinion is he’s still a better fielder than Tucker. That opinion is different than yours and some others here. That’s fine. I haven’t called you one name even though you keep doing that to me. You insist on bossing people around and insult people who have a different opinion than you. Look at your comment in the game zone last night telling someone not to post something. What you and I are arguing about is stupid. So drop the name calling.

Calling the Reddick posts stupid is not the same as calling you stupid, but I admit one may flow from the other. I also am not surprised you cannot tell the difference.

I will put you on ignore so you will not have to be bothered by me. You should ignore me also.

Done. You are ignored.

What is stupid is your petty name calling when you don’t agree with what someone posts or someone doesn’t agree with what you think. I’ve watched it for over 20 years. Consider it done. I’ll be happy to put you on ignore.

Just wanted to share the off-field Stanek look.
