2020 ALCS Game 7, Astros @ Rays, October 17, 2020

The only player I really don’t like after yesterday’s shenanigans is Yandy Diaz. Other than that, they really aren’t an unlikeable bunch.

It was wildly successful.

The haters can suck it.

Still the class of the American League, motherfuckers.

On the bright side: didn’t lose to the Yankees or the Dodgers

And much respect to Charlie Fucking Morton and the Rays.

Before all roll on out of here…

What happened to Bregman?

That market, that ballpark, that budget, that division and they freakin win. Good luck to them. And CFM. Glad we went there to get Click.

That’s exactly where this series was lost.

They wanted a double switch so Stubbs would not hit in the 9th where Diaz hit.

Had to hide Stubbs in the lineup. Alex made the last out.

Yep, Altuve got the yips at the worst time, and Yuli let his bad hitting creep into his fielding on the first one in game 2.

I wonder what happened to Bregman’s bat.

I truly expected a 2-game sweep by the Twins which tells you how much confidence I had watching this extended spring training. That they flipped the script then bitch-slapped the kings of the AL West was a bowl of ice cream after a steak dinner. I can’t complain at all.

He never caught fire the entire season.

Altuve’s struggles in the field provided a smokecloud.

But despite all the hard hit ball talk the Bregman we saw last year made hard hit balls land in the seats.

If, if, if.

Random sidebar… Rays’ president Matt Silverman married a girl my wife went to HS with (Mac Knights holla!). Years ago - 2011 or 2012 - we were at a reunion or somesuch and I mentioned to him that I was an Astros fan and thought our team was on the come-up, and he sneered and rolled his eyes. I have no ill will toward TB but fuck that guy. Watching him accept the trophy almost makes me want them to lose.

It was weird that he smoked 5 hard-hit outs in game 3 I believe, and then he virtually hits nothing hard the rest of the series. He had horrible at bats the last few games.

I agree fuck that guy. Eye rolling is totally inappropriate in that situation.

A bittersweet season but one I’ll always look back on, especially when I’m in my 90s and reminisce about 2020 and what a weird year it was, assuming things return to the old normal eventually. A lot to look forward to. Big steps taken this year by Framber and Urquidy. Tucker is finally coming into his own. Alvarez will be back. I hope they can find a way to keep Springer and Brantley. Reddick was a good Astro.

I watched more Astros baseball than ever this year and was all in from day one. Granted, it was because I rarely left my house. We had a heckuva run.

No shit. For all of Gurriel’s problems, he ended up with a higher batting average than Bregman.

Wonder what approach Crane will take this off season.
