If the link works, you can watch another good one. Ah, it did!
A few random stats:
-Altuve ended up hitting .308 in the WS; 2 doubles, no HR and no RBI. Obp .333. He did score 8 runs.
-Bregman hit .238; 3 doubles, 1 HR and 4 rbi. His 4 walks gave him an obp of .385
-Yuli struck out once in the entire postseason. He also walked once.
-The Phillies scored 18 runs in the series. 13 of those came in their 2 victories. JV and Lance allowed 13 (JV gave up just 1 in G5).
- Philly hit 8 HR, the Astros 5.
- the Phillies hit .163 as a team and struck out 71 times. The Astros: .240/57
I donāt think any of that is the eureka stat as much as this: after they score 7 in G3 the Phillies scored 3 over the rest of the series (on 9 hits).
I had not seen the angle of Pressly pumping his fist as Bregman fielded and threw the last ball in game 4 (11:00 mark).
Very cool.
I had seen him pumping his fist on other highlights, but I did not know it was while the ball was in play.
Iām also happy not to face Schwarber again until next season.
I was more concerned about him than I was Harper.
Absolutely. Harper will hurt you if you make a mistake, but he can be pitched to. Schwarber can hurt you even if you donāt make a mistake.
I wouldnāt mind never facing him again. The Cubs took a lot of heat when they took him 4th overall, but they were adamant that he would rake. Heās proven to be every bit the hitter they thought heād be.
The greatest joy I got from coaching Mark was watching his improvement over the years. I knew first hand how much hard work he put in. I get some of the same pleasure as a fan occasionally. This year my joy resulted from watching Abreu mature and improve from a marginal major leaguer to an unhittable setup reliever. That started for me with Framber last year as he began to harness his monster talent. I need to throw Javier in this post also. He may be our #1 or at least #1B with Framber next year.
I feel that way about Wheeler.
I was as concerned about Realmuto as I was Harper and Schwarber.
Itās a frikkinā Justin Bieber concert.
Iāve mentioned before that Yordan is what 12 year old me would have scripted as a baseball player.
Well hereās a kid who sounds 12 who put together a nice summary of Yordanās career:
The kid has some editing chops.
I saw this on YouTube. It is superb.
I had forgotten how much Yordan obliterated the Red Sox last year.
I hope they wince every time his name is mentioned.
I love these cell phone videos of these moments.
This one you can see Altuve walking back to this with one arm held high.
See him go back and tag up? That is fundamental discipline.
The phone/camera was to the left and down from our seats, which allowed us to look right down the RF line.
I love in the home run spectacular on El Grande itās now the ball leaving The Juice Box/MMPUS instead of The Dome.
Nice touch.
