Middle of six update to my win probability: add a couple more zeros

10 games to go; 0.0000000000001%

9 games to go; 0.00000000001%

Magic number 8.

Then worry about anything else.

What a stupid set of “analytics”. Any analysis that has the Yankees at a 27% chance to win the WS, Boston (who just lost 2 of 3 to the Rangers) at a 6% chance and yet, the Rays, at a 2% chance is fundamentally flawed.

FWIW, FanGraphs is much more rational: Rays 10.6, Yankees 9.3, Red Sox 6.2, the rest of the AL 5 and under.

The 2019 Astros were listed as 33% favorites AFTER the divisional round.

That 27% is ludicrous.

It’s the Yankees.

What is “win”?

6 games to go and they were 2-4 in their last 6. I’d say that recent past performance is a decent indicator of what to expect here. There is a real chance the Rangers win the division with a sub.500 record.

I don’t know if I will be able to stay awake for these west coast games.

Cocoa leaves.
In copious amounts.

What a train wreck the AL West Division is. They should all be relegated to AAA.

The good news: The Mariners are officially eliminated.
The bad news: The Rangers won, so the Astros have to keep pace.

I was once again feeling ambivalent about the Astros making the post season after last night, but damn, I still want them to to finish ahead of the Rangers.

deGrom shit the bed for the Rangers tonight, coughed up 6 ER in the second and another 2 in the fourth. Rangers down 8-2 to the Twins, bottom 5.
