Unwritten rules

Some unwritten rules are fine but the 3-0 pitch thing needs to seriously die. So if he waited for 3-1 before hitting the homer it would be fine, or does he have to wait for 3-2? Fuck that, kill it with fire. It’s your job as the team losing the blowout to end the game, if you choose to do so by putting a non pitcher out there and he gets knocked around, that’s on you. It’s not my job to quit playing so you don’t get your feelings hurt, this is the big leagues. If a guy hitting homer 3-0 hurts your feelings I have a bag of dicks for you

100% of “unwritten rules” are bs.

When a catcher takes a foul tip to the nuts, the hitter should step out of the box and let the catcher spit the blood out. That’s one I agree with. But the other 99.9% are.

I found this article last night while arguing that swinging 3-0 in a blowout is not a new thing.

Someone tried to insinuate that it never happened until Tatis did it last year.

Not sure that is anything but common courtesy, but Ok.

He keeps going all in.

Screw La Russa.

I haven’t had a problem with unwritten rules violations except when it was Alex Rodriguez committing them.

LaRussa is the greatest barrier to the White Sox running away with the AL Central.

For the life of me I don’t understand why Chicago didn’t hire Hinch.

Reinsdorf still owns the team.

Only thing I can come up with.

Cabrera noted this a couple of weeks ago over in the Baseball Miscellany thread.

Article was quoted to provide a reference for the joke, not as a two-week-old news scoop, but thanks for pointing that out.

Calcaterra missed it by just a few days with this tweet back in October!

May 25, 2021: Cardinals vs. White Sox in Chicago.

Just putting that out there as the night La Russa gives a quote agreeing with the opposing manager that his own player was "out of line," that "we don't play the game that way" and that "I'll have a talk with him."
