Hello, Hulu? I’ve got a show to pitch to you…
I am proud to say that I have walked our pet pig and our pet goats on leashes many times in the neighborhood back when we had each of them. People would pour out of their houses to gawk at the spectacle and have some quality time with the roving petting zoo. I am also here to report that three goats on leashes can easily overpower and pull a reasonably strong 190lb, 6’-3”man, despite his every attempt to stop them.
Yeah but were you topless and wearing a grass skirt? Asking for a friend.
Southwest sent an email today to everyone affected by the cancellations. They gave me 25K rapid rewards points for each cancelled reservation (3 for my family) so 75K points total, which adds up to about $900 in flight credits. That’s a good start at restoring good will. I’m still trying to get reimbursed for the unexpected car rental though.
Are the travel points in addition to a refund for the cancelled flights?
Yes, should’ve made that clearer. I got full refunds (cash, not points) for three cancelled reservations and an additional 75K points.
It’s a cheap way for them to “compensate” passengers, but it’s far short of reimbursement for the mess they created.
Any time you have a pant of sympathy for SWA’s management, remember that the airline received $7 billion in federal grants and spent nearly all of it on stock buybacks and dividends, and not even a single penny of it on updating their computer systems they’d been duct taping together since the 1990s.
Why do you hate 'Merca?
Why wouldn’t grants stipulate that they’re only to be used for capital improvements, not things like buybacks?
I think it was COVID money.
The government money did in fact stipulate no buybacks or dividends.
The last time SWA bought back stock was in the first quarter of 2020. No dividends were paid after the first quarter of 2020 either (the dividend just got reinstated).
So best I can tell it’s incorrect what Limey said.
Oof
No worries. More frequent flier points.
At this point, these ARE normal operations.
My daughter had her SWA flight cancelled last week. She hasn’t gotten an email yet.
It was quite the adventure getting her home for some time with family.
She flies back to Texas in the morning. Hopefully no cancellations this time around.
Hopefully they will live long enough to use the frequent flyer points.
She got her email yesterday and SWA got her back to Love field safely today.
One think you folks in Texas can be thankful for is not living very close to a different time zone. It was an really early morning getting her to ATL for her flight this morning. The difference between getting up at 3:30 AM and 4:30 AM is HUGE!
Hope no one has to be there by 9:30
