The bullpen is gassed because of shit starting pitching. Adding a bullpen arm is treating the symptom not the disease.
Rangers get Jordan Montgomery. Go get JV Dana
And a reliever, Chris Stratton, who I know nothing about
You have to hand it to the Rangers they are letting it all out. Their fans are getting their money’s worth this year.
Yep.
I hope they enjoy the same success the Padres did in their recent efforts.
I agree with you.
The Rangers at least are doing this from first place at the end of July, but fuck them.
I trust nothing that is said by any GM during this time of the year. His/her job at this time of the year is to improve his/her bargaining position. Any comment needs to be filtered through this and not taken as gospel.
It’s frustrating to read Astros’ fandom completely lose their shit over Brown’s interview this morning.
Who lost their shit???
Everywhere but here? But that’s the norm, which is why this is the place it is.
No one expected or even knew that we were looking to get Verlander in 2017. The best trades are complete surprises to the fan base.
Eovaldi to the IL with “forearm strain”.
TOMMY JOHN!
Right. So they just traded for Scherzer to replace Eovaldi who replaced DeGrom. Montgomery is the extra starter.
How about Keller and Bednar from the Pirootes? We send an OF, Bielek, Arrighetti, Leon. We can throw in Solis too.
I would love to get Keller. He could be Cole 2.0 with the Astros. Arrighetti is one of the (few) prospects I’d try to keep, so I’d offer Bielak, Julks, Rhett Kouba and Jacob Melton for Keller and Bednar. Solid and Leon would be the add on’s.
Update from “my friend”
All I have heard is that Verlander may come down to the wire. The Mets want a lot for him and Astros aren’t inclined to give up several of their absolute best prospects. I would say there is no way a deal happens - except the Mets have lots of money and if they pay enough of Verlander’s salary - it may happen.
Teams are waiting on Rodriguez and a couple other starters (including the Astros). Astros think the Rangers gave up a lot in deals but know they are in a different spot than Astros.
Cease off the market according to Sox, but Astros are still trying to pry him away.
Red Sox have taken calls as buyers and sellers. Can make a difference because Astros were somewhat close to getting a starting pitcher from them a few weeks ago.
Astros and Royals have talked recently, as have Cards and Astros and oddly - Astros and Yankees
Severino maybe?
Those conversations with the Cardinals better be about Flaherty, goddamnit.
Paxton from the Red Sox, I guess?
